If you think that one D lineman (not the entire d line) has as big an impact on winning and losing games as a QB you need to go back and watch football.

BTW, when the O sputters again this season it wont be Zorns fault. It will be the QB. Zorn cant make a silk purse out of a sow's ear
.
First, I watch enough, thank you, and if you saw our games last year, and watched the Titans D also, you would know that a player like AH does in fact upgrade our D every time he steps on the field. If you think he doesn't impact our D strategy as much as the qb on the other side, maybe you should watch his games more closely.
2nd, Zorn made silk out of Hasselback, even after benching him. You don't like Campbell, fine whatever. Campbell and Portis together were creating all the buzz until the OLine broke down, then nothing. Campbell's stats and performance have improved yearly so replacing him would just set our team back again. But like every other JC hater, nothing I say would change your mind so I guess I'll just go watch more football till I see it your way.

Your talking defensive strategy and I'm talking winning and losing games. I dont care what strategy is used, its the wins that count. I agree that AH will impact the Skins defensive strategy. Will that translate into more wins, hopefully it will.

At this point JC and MH are not comparable. MH has taken his team to the playoffs and super bowk, JC hasnt. I dont think that replacing JC with a competent QB would set the team back at all. Skins fans are now in the mindset that it takes years to develop a QB when in fact QBs like Cassell, Rothlessberger, Ryan stepped right in and got the job done.

-I answered in a different thread, but AH alone would have won us three games last year(where Campbell and the offense got on track and took the lead and the D let us down) so I am talking wins as well.

-Zorn BENCHED MH for a year, before he went to the SB. You are using exceptions and claiming a rule. But most qbs take time to develop, that is an accepted belief, not just among Skins fans, but analysts, NFL teams, and a lot of other folks who actually watch football games. I really like how you say "at this point JC and MH are not comparable" duh, one is at the end of his career and the other is at the beginning of his career. I was comparing MH and JC at the same point in the careers(2nd year under Zorn). But I can understand where that type of Apples to Apples comparison might lose its appeal

JC is vested in the NFL retirement plan, if anything he's in the middle of his career.

From Wikipedia:
Matt Hasselbeck
Quote:
Green Bay Packers

Hasselbeck began his professional career with the Green Bay Packers, where he joined the practice squad in 1998 and then backed-up starter Brett Favre for two seasons, beginning in 1999.

Seattle Seahawks

Hasselbeck joined former head coach Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Seahawks on March 2, 2001. The Packers traded him, along with their first (17th overall) and seventh-round draft picks, to the Seahawks for their first (10th overall) and third-round draft picks.

After the trade Hasselbeck became the starting quarterback for the Seahawks and started 52 games between 2001 and 2004. In his early years in Seattle he battled for playing time with Trent Dilfer.

In 2004, Hasselbeck won the 2004 NFL Quarterback Challenge.
so he won the challenge around his 5th year in the league...
hmm, eerily familiar...

Let's talk winning and losing games. Will Tennessee win more or less games without AH? Will Kerry Collins raise the level of play to make up for the loss of AH? Or, as he was last year, will KC simply be a game manager -a competent one, but, nonetheless, not a game changer. AH, however, made everyone on the defense better. This in turn allowed Tennessee to be a grind it out team (300 yards rushing games?? Oh yeah, a skilled QB is essential for those handoffs). Tennessee will lose more games this year as a result of AH not being there. Bank on it.

Just so we're clear: At this point - MH is a QB with 10 years exp. HOWEVER - When he was at the JC's stage, a QB with 4 years exp., he hadn't won any Super Bowls and had barely beaten out John Kitna for the starting job in his third year (he road the pine behind Farve his first two years in the league- remember?). In MH's first two years as starter, the Seahawks went 9-7 and 7-9. Neither of which were playoff years. If you compare MH's 4th year numbers to JC's 4th year numbers MH has a slight edge (QB Rating 87.8 v. 84.3). Sorry, MH and JC are very comparable if you look at them in the same point at their careers.

Sure, some QB's step right in. The vast majority don't. You can count on two hands the number of QB's who were immediately successful (Oh, BTW, neither Manning brother was, Steve Young? Brett Farve? Nope). Cassell, by the way did not "step right in." He sat on the bench FOR THREE YEARS!!

Will JC turn the corner? Dunno. This is pretty much the year for him to do it. I hope he will and believe it likely. But to say he won't based on your comparisons relies on a faulty premise.
