You could argue the opposite as well, sort of. Maybe Pioli was SO good that he groomed the staff underneath him to be able to take the baton and keep running at full speed without him. Maybe that's why the Pats were willing to let him walk.

We know the Pats epitomize "team" as well as anyone. Maybe their front office structure is the same way.

For a 2nd round pick if I'm the Pats I'd make the trade. In '07 he played awful, but last year was a contract year so I expected him to put up good numbers. He's older (29) but he's still has alot left. That would be a good trade given that they play a 3-4 which Peppers wants to be in.
