Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Well Id like Al at DE on 1st and 2nd down with Raji, Griffin, and AC. Rotate Golston, Monty,
Daniels with Jackson and Wilson at rush DE. We got to move Al around like Reggie White. Make it more difficult for teams to game plan for him. |

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
I think it was Merrill Hodge who said if Haynesworth decided to play DE, he'd automatically become the best DE in the NFL. If Blache is smart he'll move him around a little.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Been thinking the same thing bro...part of the reason I think DE is a reach for us @ 13. I mean if Monty plays up to his potential (hoping Al has something to do w/ that) we're already better in the interior...kick Al out to LDE and let him collapse the pocket in about half a second cuz now way a TE/OT double team will stop him.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
I think we have to play Big AL at DE. We have plenty of DT's, and there is nobody worthy of the #13 pick at DE. AND nobody on the roster who gives us anything at DE other than AC and maybe Daniels IF he is healthy. It's not like Big Al wouldn't be effective there.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Montgomery has the size and talent to be a very good DT. Maybe AH will rub off on him a little. Raji and AH? OMG. Can you imagine?

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Yeah Raji and AH!! Just remember the skins were interested in Raji a lot before they signed AH. It would not surprise me at all if he slides to us if we take him. Our line would turn from a weakness into a dominating DL and we need a big physical line in the EAST for Jacobs and Barber.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
A badass DE like who? All the big time DE's in the draft are too small to play RDE for us.
Ayers? Jackson? They have the size but dont overly excite me either, especially at #13. I think it is a little easier said than done just to run wide on AH at DE....and that's what our LB(whoever he may be), Landry and Horton are for....chase down them backs outside. Im sure Blatche is smart enough to devise a scheme to handle that. |

I am higher on Ayers than you are. Although I often disagree with him, Mayock said that when we look back three years from now, what we will see is that Ayers is the best defensive player in this draft. He could (repeat: could) be right. Horton is not primary run defense, he is run support. Landry will be of little use in your scenario since Blache plays him 30 yards off of the line. On wide plays you need a reasonably fast DE to either make the play or absorb the blocking so that the LB can make the play. If you have a slow DE, running teams like the Giants will just run around you all day long. And as much as I like AH, he makes for a slow DE. AH's natural habitat is on the inside. Except on mix-it-up pass rushing downs, I think it would reduce his overall contribution to make him play too much on the outside.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
If for some reason Sanchez is still there at 13 (which I highly doubt), we'd be foolish to draft him, and even more foolish not to entertain the offers we'd get from other teams to move up to our spot. We could accumulate multiple picks and address not only OL, but OLB and possibly another DE all before the 4th round.
But that's probably way too rational for us to do. Honestly though, the absolute latest I see Sanchez going is 10th to SF.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
I'm getting the feeling more and more that we're going to do something stupid and go hard after Sanchez. I really don't get the line of thinking with Snyder. I know it's nothing new, but it's still maddening. I was reluctantly OK with the Cutler chase but c'mon man, why all of the love for a kid that's started 16 games, his own coach didn't think should have come out and is considered a project that's going to need 2-3 years before he's a solid QB. Seems like a wasted pick rather than a needed pick.
I was listening to the ESPN Draft podcast with Kiper and McShay (NFL Football Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - National Football League - ESPN) earlier and about the 25 minute mark they talk about the Redskins and Sanchez. Sounds like if he's there at #13, he's a Redskin.

I was okay with the Cutler idea too, but only because I'm getting more and more skeptical about Jason Campbell. Now that the Cutler thing is over, it would be absurd to dump Campbell in favor of yet another project in Sanchez (or Stafford for that matter). The only reason you trade JC is if there is another capable guy who can start right now and make your team better. That might have been Cutler. But now, I think you absolutely have to stick with Campbell. |

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
It seems clear that The FO does not think JC is the man. The mere fact that they didn't offer him a contract should be concern enough. They pay and overpay everybody they like and JC hasn't been offered nothing. Not that I blame them, but that's just not the skins M.O.
They tried to trade for Cutler and floated JC's name in separate trade talks for a 2nd rounder? Then spoke with JC and told him your our man. And now they are working out Sanchez. Sadly it does appear that the skins are trying desperately to make a change at QB. I would just much rather let JC have at last this year to show what he can do and if it doesn't work out, let him go and draft a top QB in next years beastly draft. |
