There's a number of things that I can say about this whole situation.

Jason Campbell has been treated unfairly, but whether he was staying with the redskins or going somewhere else - at least he was going to be given a starting role with a team and given a chance to show what he has. Whether it is unfair or fair - it appears the job of quarterback in Zorn's offense is to be the leader period. Whether he is put in a position to win is not the question; it's what he does with his situation. There's something to be said for being patient and for showing loyalty to a player for the team that you are rooting for - but I believe that you can show that you are a great player in one season, not three, not two, not one and half seasons - but ONE season. That's all it takes. I like Jason Campbell - but he needs to just do what he needs to do. I believe wholeheartedly that if you put in the work that the results will follow - so far the results have been 50/50, so the work put in...

He has been treated unfairly how? His record is worse then MB and everyone is saying he was treated unfairly. Has he even had a winning season? I like the guy but I'm not against moving on.

fd, you're missing the point. He's done NOTHING (as defined as not one thing) to suggest he can't become a top QB as soon as next year. This organization just went balls out to bring Cutler in here. He didn't provide one sound bite to the media that suggests he doesn't want to be here. That's exceptional.

The fact that better QBs exist in the world is irrelivant. You don't trade in a quality guy like Campbell for whatever you can get.

Whether it was intentional or not, his situation with the redskins wasn't the most conducive for a quarterback to flourish. There was a lack of consistency within the organization, most notably the number of offenses that he has had to learn. And now, the lack of confidence shown through the redskins' efforts in trying to trade Campbell and/or trying to trade for Cutler.

But no, I agree with you with (liking him and) not against moving on (without him). Everyone has their share of adversity (if that's how he sees it) - but it's about getting through it and getting better because of it. It's like the old saying... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - but you have to be willing to face it and go through it. I think it's time that Campbell faces all of this and shows everybody he is strong enough to battle through all of this stuff and show us that he's a champion. Isn't that what champions are measured with - how much adversity they have overcome?

And compared to others, Campbell's situation isn't that bad. That's why Cutler is seen as a crybaby, because there are millions of people out there that would trade their best day for their worst day in football to be be able to be given their situations and chances in life. The one thing that I like about Cutler though is - he has fire. Something at this point that Campbell lacks and needs to find.
