For those of you thinking about going after Sanchez, Matt Bowen brings up some pretty good points.

I know, it pisses me off too but I'm sure he'll have a nice career in Pittsburgh.

He should! When we play the cowboys, Eagles and Giants they will have a hell of a D-line (actually, 2 starting type D-lines) and we need to bulk on the OL especially up the middle to negate the rushers coming from the outside.

Centers just don't go that high. He'll go towards the end of the 1st at the earliest.

We need to bulk up in the middle to negate the outside rushers? Not sure I'm getting that.

No! We need someone who knows simply by glancing at the defense whether Heyer will f up or not!

I'm half-kidding obviously, but field vision is a skill that our current Center has never heard of.

Kiwanuka and Uyeminora come in quick, if you attack the middle holes with Dockery, Mack and Thomas you would have lots of day light ahead instead of running to the outside and those quick ends waiting for you. I really believe we could play smashmouth football with this guy in the middle. Centers used to be the most important position on the OL until RT overtook it. In my opinion C are the QB's of the line. Since Bostic left who have we had that made a difference?

I'm hoping you meant LT otherwise your credibility is eroding quickly. Centers are rarely drafted above the mid 2nd, early 3rd round. The best center in our division (arguably) Jamal Jackson of the Eagles was an undrafted free agent out of Delaware State and he was a starter his 2nd year.

RT is the most important spot on the line? I always thought it was LT. Well, I guess it could be RT if you have a lefty at QB.

That article is a lot of nonsense I think. Sanchez started moving up after his Pro day and individual workouts I think, not the Rose Bowl game. I know a lot of people discount Mel Kiper...but he does put a lot of work into his opinions and he thinks Sanchez would be the #1 overall pick next year not just a possible top 10 pick as that article suggests. I have no idea if Sanchez is a franchise QB but I don't think Matt Bowen does either.

I am open to Sanchez at #13. I think the real issue is whether or not the Redskins have an open mind to JC being the QB beyond next year. If they do then I want to stick with him, but if they don't it may be a good idea to just move on now rather then spend another year trying to coach him up.

Unlike celts32, I think this is a solid, valid article. I'd be willing to bet that if Sanchez had thrown a couple of picks in a losing effort against Penn St in the Rose Bowl, he'd be returning to USC in 2010. But he didn't, so he won't, and he'll be a pro in 2010. And IMO he'll probably be a pretty good NFL QB eventually. However it's hard to ignore how one game spring boarded him so high up the NFL draft charts.

So after that one game he became a sure-fire first rounder, and over the past few months he's now become a possibly top 5 pick? What's happened in that time? Zero actual football games, and a few workouts without pads.
Placing value on hype is, IMO, overvaluing. He's good looking, confident, will sell tickets and jerseys, oooh, ahhh. Again, I think he'll be good, but I don't want him at #13, and I REALLY don't think he's worth moving up for.

I couldn't agree more. I thought Bowen was spot on with this article.
