BleedBurgundy, I think your observations are right on the money. That's why, in my frustration, I started a thread asking someone to please try to convince me that the FO knows what it's doing.

Over the last few months, I have come to believe that Vinny and his staff do know what they're doing. Now I believe that the problem is Dan Snyder alone.

I think that Snyder just cannot resist injecting himself - in a bad way - into what should be the orderly process of building a contender. Possibly DS is just too impatient to go through the process or perhaps he just thinks that he knows better than the professionals he hired. Maybe he just enjoys being large and in charge. I don't know why but I can't envision him changing anytime soon.

They say that even a blind hog can find an acorn now and then. So let's all hope that Snyder is that hog and that Sanchez is that acorn because I believe that DS will do everything he can to land Sanchez in this draft regardless of whatever plan that Vinny and his staff may think they are implementing.

The impatience of the front office in the past would make it hard to believe that they would be able to tolerate losing seasons in order to "get better in the end".

The FO mentality seems to be like a gardner who plants a tree one week and then digs it up every other week for the next year to see how the roots are developing. That gardner knows just enough to be dangerous; he knows that without a solid root system, the tree will die. What he does not realize is that by "inspecting" the root system he prevents the tree from developing properly.

Before anyone thinks this comment is some kind of "hate message" for Danny Boy and Vinnie Boombatz, it is not. It simply reflects how this franchise has done business for the last decade. And it has not worked all that well...

I give it another 5 years years before it finally dawns on the rest of the fanbase just how inept Snyder is as an owner. He'd make a great CFO for the team, but not an owner. The franchise will continue to make loads of money and continue to be a mediocre team.

Seriously, if this were some kind of smokescreen, then it would be one of the most ill conceived in recent memory. What is the endgame? Who is it that we are secretly pining for? More picks? The only realistic trade partner would be the jets at this point if sanchez somehow falls to us and we can get the jets to swap spots. But that is wholly unrealistic, idiotic gamble to take with your current starting qb and overall team chemistry.

Those claiming this is a masterful subterfuge by D$ are either off their meds or the biggest wishful thinkers I've ever heard of.

I don't take meds, but surely wishful thinking (I prefer creative).

Having said that, How much of this is really the front office and how much is just the d*** media just repeating stories over and over. I say its probably heavily skewed toward the media.

redskins are well on their way to putting together a good team

offensive line is the biggest issue and that could only help clinton portis and whoever the QB will be next season....several offensive tackle prospects in the first round

plus alex mack, max unger, duke robinson, and eric wood all as interior line prospects in the late first round or 2nd round

it just depends on which players are available at that time

tackle probably needs to be addressed in the first round because those are where the best prospects are

im not sure if the redskins have a pick in the 2nd round or not, but could definitly upgrade either center or guard with any of those players i mentioned

I think the interior of the line is more important right now than RT. Rabach had a subpar season, Thomas is injury riddled and getting old. Most fans in this forum mention that if you have a great DL like Haynesworth that you can dominate the trenches. The same applies the other way, if you have a great C/G then you can counteract a great DL and have the DE beat you.

I think a 2009 starting OL of this guys below would be sweet:

it all depends

if you want to start with a passing team, its probably more beneficial to go after a tackle. they are the cornerstones of the offense and protect the most important asset(obviously not true for all teams lol)

tackles make good money because they deserve good money. You have to be big, very strong, and very quick to play tackle in the NFL and there arent many players that can do that....more and more tackles are being drafted in the later rounds and being converted to guards because they cant handle the rush on the outside

interior linemen are more important IMO because most plays take place from the inside out. the center is the only player to touch the ball every single play and if he gets pushed off balance then he ruins the entire play.

guards need to be quicker than tackles but rarely have to move backwards like tackles. most of their steps are forward and allow them to play off balance a little

if it were my pick, id take a tackle, but thats only because its so early in the first round

if it were later in round 1 or even in round 2, id take a top rated center or guard without looking back. especially from the crop of kids coming out this year

unless they make a trade back, the redskins need to take a tackle

i cant see any player in the top 4 being worth the trade up other than curry

michael oher and andre smith were both rated higher than jason smith and eugene monroe at the end of the season

the combine and offseason dropped them down on many draft boards, but they are still very talented

trading up isnt smart, especially in a very weak draft class
