Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

I see us using Orakpo as a 2-down SLB and then moving him up to DE on 3rd downs to rush the passer.

Yeah that seems to be the conventional wisdom. Two points. Teams still pass on 1st and 2nd down so we're gonna have to teach the kid to cover (probably from scratch) and then he's got to make plays in space. I don't know.

...btw anybody else surprised that after the big 4 no OTs have gone. I thought we'd see at least 7 OL go in the 1st round but w/ Britton, Meredith in there.

They did help by adding a needed catcher. But now that they don't have Shoot-Myself Burress any more, they've got no threat to keep defenses from cheating against the run. Plus they lost Ward. I think their vaunted ground game is not going to be as tough next year.

I like the Hakeem Nicks pick by the Giants. I really liked him at NC.

lol, i mean if I were a giants fan, i'd be ecstatic. I'm not a huge college football fan, but I caught a couple of NC games last year and he just stuck out every time. I'll put my skins hat back on now and say "Giants suck!"

That would be nice, but we're a long way from #80. (Stating the obvious here, sorry).

That would be nice, but I don't think he will make it to the 3rd round.

Well it seems like a higher power is keeping our front office from makin stupid mistakes and players that we actually need keep falling to us. It could happen

We keep crediting other powers, like the Bears, Jets, and now God, for saving the FO from stupidity. If this continues, at some point we are going to have to admit that the FO is not as stupid as we think.
