Re: Grade the Redskins Draft!
You gotta wonder why so many teams, not just us, passed on OL like Duke Robinson. Orakpo and Barnes are great picks. Glenn is borderline. Henson and Williams I don't get really. Mitchell could be a steal, but I hope not because more than likely it would mean that he got playing time because Kelly couldn't stay healthy.
I'll give it a C, but I'm not one to grade off-seasons based only on draft.

But this thread isn't asking you to grade the off-season.

2nd, I never said Cody Glenn was a better prospect. In fact, I would have been much happier with Duke than Glenn. I'm just pointing out something that probably hurt his stock. If you don't think one game can make a guy plummet in the draft, see our very own Colt Brennan. After what Georgia did to Hawaii in that BCS game, Brennan fell far and fast. Granted it was mostly the O-line's fault, just saying.

Re: Grade the Redskins Draft!
Maybe. Duke is wrapped in red flags. He does us no good if he's on suspension, as he was in college more than once.

I grade this draft an A, and it is an easy call. A B was guaranteed when we got Orakpo, IMO. I was happy with the Barnes pick, so the A was earned at that point. Anything the late rounders do for us will just be icing on the cake, as is always the case. Sorry, but I don't care that our late round picks had no media hype. I'm not ready to enshrine Duke Robinson in the Hall of Fame just yet, either. He and the other OLs we passed on were also passed on over and over by every single team in the league until the late rounds. Maybe, just maybe, the NFL people in the know don't rate them as highly as some of us on the outside. |
