My sister in-law lives in Manassas, and it is very beautiful up there. However, could you please tell the local planners that you guys already have plenty of strip-malls. Those things are ruining Manassas's picturesque beauty, and rich history.

The City of Manassas has done a good job of comprehensive planning to keep things historical but Prince William County has been in the pocket of developers for years and what many people call "Manassas" is under their control. The 234 corridor from the city to the battlefield, for instance, is a disgrace. That's why it was laughable to me when there was this tremendous outrage that the "battlefield" was being defiled or whatever by the Disney Park when that fight was basically lost years before. It's a sprawl nightmare to within 1000 yards of where Jackson and his VMI cadets made their rebel stand and none of those people had boo to say about it because it wasn't on their geographic side. In fact, if the battlefield wasn't there, they would have been more likely to speak out earlier because the battlefield acted as a buffer, protecting their horse farms and country estates from the encroaching middle class. Bottom line is that they wanted to stop growth, which is fine, but their use of the battlefield and the support that came with it was hypocritical, IMO.
