We kinda saw this coming. Can't say that I blame them. Not that they should use us as the example or punish only us, but you know they will. So they take a draft pick. Meh, no big deal, if you ask me. We hardly use them except for trade anyway. I guess Danny will have to use cold hard cash next year...if they take a draft pick that is.

Re: Yahoo: NFL formally opens investigation into Redskins tampering of Haynesworth

Again, there's obviously no tangible evidence to prove tampering, because Haynesworth signed with us. The reason the 49ers got hit with tampering is because once Lance Briggs re-upped with the Bears, they can interview him about events that occurred prior to him hitting free agency. Thus, hard evidence that contact between team and player occurred.

Short of getting an admission of wrongdoing by the Redskins from Haynesworth or Speck, you just have allegations of wrongdoing by Snyder. Haynesworth's paycheck is Speck's primary meal ticket as well, so good luck NFL getting anything more than a hunch of foul play here.

Of course, people are always going to believe the Redskins tampered here. Just like people will always believe the Dolphins tampered with Justin Smiley the year before. But, again, it's only reasonable suspicion, not actual proof.

I think the Titans should have to prove that Haynesworth would have signed with another team if we had not allegedly contacted him. Proving that would be almost impossible but what other ways could they accuse us? It is all so broad...

there you go again

not everybody wants to jump into a 20 page thread to see if there was actual real relevant news when something new has happened

might as well only have a single thread about a lot of things.. the whole season.. all of the commentary and questions on the opposition before the game, the whole preseason

give it up playing deputy jr moderator here already man

Alright chill man , and ya we also don't need to make a new thread for every bit of news that occurs in the NFL, too...

OMG r u serious??? So the NFL formally opened two investigations??? Does that mean we lose double the draft picks??? Thats double jeopardy!!!

Honestly though. I knew their was a thread about Haynesworth already. Instead of posting new news in a old thread I decided to start a new one. Since that thread was hear say and this thread is actual truth I thought a new thread was needed.

I didnt want to post the news in a old thread then 16 posters post over it about old news not realizing why it was bumped and then someone makes a new thread anyways.

This is a Redskins board and I think Redskins fans want to be able to find up to date news easily. If you have a problem with it go sign up for ES where they would probably hang me.

Well there is a search option for a reason, though im more worried bout losing a draft pick then Orakpo making a new thread.

It seems like the only way they could be found in the wrong is if someone spills the beans. We have a saying in the dark and seedy tile world, "Snitches get Stitches".

PFT rumor: TITANS TO PURSUE TAMPERING CHARGES AGAINST REDSKINS?

and

Yahoo: NFL formally opens investigation into Redskins tampering of Haynesworth

Ones about the Titans and how charges should be filed and another is about the NFL actually opening a investigation into it.

Re: Yahoo: NFL formally opens investigation into Redskins tampering of Haynesworth

I think the Titans need to wake up. "IF" AH wanted to remain a Titan he would have signed whatever they offered. He did not so only a couple of things come to mind. He either wanted more money which they failed to offer or he wanted out of Tenn.

I like Gtripps plann, but hopefully the plan still leaves it up to the player to decide of the wants to go to a new team.

Yes our owner had a dinner with the very same agent Kelly has and AH has. I guess the Titans are hoping the NFL cops will pull in the agent and he will say "Oh yeah, we talked about AH all over dinner and what it would take to get him to come to the Skins." or when they call DS in he will say "Yeah we discussed whether AH would be interested in coming to the Skins and the agent was satisfied." That aint going to happen. I presume if they call AH in he's going to say that he had no knowledge of what was discussed cause he was not present. He simply wanted to wait and see if he could get a better offer.

It's not like we signed him at 12:01am. Three hours later AH was signed. That's with us already having a half decent contract ready, a fax of said contract or e-mail, a counter offer with in reason, and all parties agreeing. All that could have been done within an hour. Now maybe the Skins called at 12:01 am and said heres our offer, is there anything AH is demanding to be in the contract? quickly fix it and all parties could sign. Done with in a half hour.

The contracts are pretty standard. No different then divorces. The issue comes down to money and if DS offered that large sum to me ....guess what....I'm a Skin.

I guess if I was a Titan player I would be pissed. The team is acting like we took their only valuable player, their only piece to the SB puzzle. Now that AH is gone they have no team so they are now looking for tampering. "We are loosers now cause we lost AH."

The evidence is Snyder was openly having dinner w/ AH's agent before FA started. I mean what else were they talking about? Everyone knows they talking contact/numbers. Let's not kid ourselves. I doubt anyone can prove what they were discussing but Snyder has to be smarter than that.

It's called plausible deniability. Haynesworth's agent represents at least one other player on the Redskins. Even though everyone knows exactly what that dinner was about, there's simply no way to prove it. Unless Snyder, the agent, or Haynesworth admits to it, or there is some kind of recorded phone call or email, this will go away.

Re: Yahoo: NFL formally opens investigation into Redskins tampering of Haynesworth

In an ACTUAL case that involved tampering, the Miami Dolphins had to forfeit their first round draft pick the next year - - it did not go to the team who was the "tampering victim.

The object of the tampering? Coach Don Shula.

Shula was the head coach of the Colts when the Dolphins tampered with him - - according the an NFL investigation.

However, the "price" back then was the loss of a first round pick. That is not something trivial.

Speck represents Malcolm Kelly as well -- I mean we all know what it was about, but still.
