Re: Training Camp Updates:
Am I the only one who has a vibe that Marko Mitchell is a real sleeper? He really should make the team based on his camp, but probably will end up practice squad... but I just have this gut feeling that he has a better future ahead of him than Malcolm Kelly, maybe it's just me, but I'm putting it out there.
Oh, and I also feel that the combination of Mason & Aldridge could be as or more productive than Betts/Cartwright. I just feel like every Redskin quoted recently makes a comment about Aldridge's speed & cutting ability & Mason's natural football instincts/abilities.

and before anyone else says it....remember Mason was playing against the 2nd string defense. There, for all you Mason haters I put that out there for you. but I like what he brings to the table. He's young, fast, and always finds a hole for positive yards. It sounded like Rock had a difficult day today. I also like the fact they are looking at a speed back. If I was DS (which obviously I'm not) I'd keep all the young WR's and keep Portis, Mason, and Alridge. The team would be younger, faster, and Portis and Moss could help coach up the young guys. |

There is no way that Betts should be bumped for Mason. Betts pisses me off with his fumbling but he would start for several teams. Mason would not start for anyone. I like the idea of Aldridge possibly making the team. I think we should have a scat back and I am all for anyone who would bump Randle-El off punt duty. |

Betts was a reach when he was drafted and he is a reach if you think he is an NFL starting RB. He is also the worst running back I have ever seen on the goal line. I would welcome cutting Betts. |

Lol. Whatever you say, dude. The worst runningback you have ever seen on the goaline? Ever? Why because the Giants had 3 guys in the backfield on every play in '07 when we ran left? (I was screaming at the TV for a bootleg on 3rd down but I am not sure Gibbs ran a single one in version 2.0 even though Campbell is an above average scrambler). I don't even have to bring up another team to dispute that.... Ever seen Mike Sellers on the goaline? |

Re: Training Camp Updates:
100% totally agree. 3 yrs and he has done what? Sat on the practice squad. Time to let him go so someone who can be developed can stay.

Re: Training Camp Updates:
what is the opinion of those that have been watching the QB position at the camp?
It looks like Collins is going to be getting the short end of the playing time stick versus Colt. |

I know he (Collins) was not planned to play today according to the team but when thrown in either he had a bad day or he simply was not ready cause to me it sounded like he struggled today. Until the end of practice. Brennen sounded to have had a pretty good day as well as Daniel. Perhaps it's time to get younger there also. Just saying.

I really like Todd Collins if Al Saunders is calling the plays. If Chase really makes an impression and Colt gets out of his training camp funk I have no problem going with Colt and Chase as the backups. I have plenty of respect for Todd Collins. |

10:07:09 am Whether it is by design from coaches or instinctive reaction, QB Jason Campbell is checking down to RBs and TEs most of the time. Conversely, QB Colt Brennan likes to take more shots down field and the result is not always positive. 9:50:32 am Rookie QB Chase Daniel appears to be improving with each practice. His arm strength and accuracy are developing nicely. 2:56:06 pm QB Todd Collins just threw his second TD of the scrimmage. The last was to WR Keith Eloi who did most of the work by breaking several tackles before diving in for the score. 2:55:22 pm QB Jason Campbell is working with second and third string players and he looks average at best. 2:54:23 pm There are some who are practice players and then there's rookie QB Chase Daniel. Daniel who has struggled the first week of camp led the second offense to a score against the Redskins first defense. 2:35:21 pm QB Colt Brennan was unable to move the second offense. Brennan dropped the ball as he was preparing to throw deep. couple small quips from cbs' camp updates |

Re: Training Camp Updates:
Perhaps it's just me but I keep reading how Mason is not that good, or he wouldn't crack a squad, etc., etc., but I keep seeing Betts and Rock not doing as well playing against the same 2nd stringers....go figure.

Re: Training Camp Updates:
Betts is a good #2 RB, and filled in nicely when Portis went down, but keep in mind there was not a lot of teams knocking on his door to steal him away from the Skins when his contract came up. He wanted to test the open market and got no phone calls. My only concern is we have 3 RB's all around the same age and when one decides its time to hang up the cleats I'm betting the other two will be thinking the same thing only cause of age. The team needs to start looking for a Replacement for Portis who can be developed/groomed until Portis is ready to say goodbye. Someone young and talented like a Mason. I'm in no way saying he's ready to take over for Portis right now. but I'm sure he would do just as well a job as Betts did.
