Eli Manning's 6-Year, $97.5 Million Extension One of NFL's Biggest Deals

Eli Manning has been rewarded for his Super Bowl victory in 2008 with what sources say is a six-year, $97.5 million contract extension (with an average annual salary of more than $15 million) that will make him one of the highest paid players in NFL history.

I wonder if Eli will be taunting Peyton over who makes more money.

They don't say how much is guaranteed though.

He is going to get 15 mil on top of the 10 mil that he was already scheduled to make this year!??? Sick!

Eli is not worth that type of money, but whatever. Soon NFL players are going to be renegotiating their contracts because they are not getting paid enough. I hope that JC doesn't expect that type of money if he has an outstanding year.

Wow...all of that money for one good month in his career. Outside that run leading up to the SB a couple of years ago, he's been an average QB. 55.9 career completion %, 200 yds/gm average, 98TDs/74 INTs and a 76.1 passer rating.

If he won the SB would you complain?

No, but at the same time that is a lot of money for a Lombardi trophy.

It is but I'm sure we would all love to have that problem.

Jay Glazer is reporting $35 million guaranteed.

Try below average.

No way in the world is Eli worth that kind of coin. But good for him. He played his best ball when it mattered most.

Eli may not be worth every penny of this deal on paper, but who really is nowadays. The real question in my mind is, do the Giants win the Super Bowl without Manning? I seriously doubt it.

Outside of big brother Manning and Tom Brady, I don't think there are five QBs I would rather have in the clutch than Eli Manning.

Re: Eli Manning's 6-Year, $97.5 Million Extension One of NFL's Biggest Deals

He's definitely not worth anywhere close to that kind of money. His career numbers are paltry. He got hot during one half of one season. That's it. No more Toomer or Plax, and we'll see how he does.

Out of all receivers on the Giants roster, the career TD leader has 4. That's right, 4 career TD receptions. If they think Hakeem Nicks is going to turn Eli into the QB from the second half of 2007, they're in for a rude awakening. Plax was his safety blanket, and he's obviously nowhere close to the same QB without him as he was with him.

I'm sorry but I think Eli Manning is one of the most overrated players in football.

Like his totally clutch 15-29 (51.7%), 169 yard, 0 td, 2 int one-and-done playoff performance last year?
