This case isn't going any where, and the victim was highly intoxicated according to SD Sheriff spokesperson.

Maybe you should judge every case on a case by case bases. You sound like a Hater who hates to see people get paid more than you make.
Im simply stating that MANY times society in general ignores the fact that someone is guilty, or might be, just because he can dunk a basketball, or sacks the quarterback for your favorite team. I feel like in alot of these situations people are walking around with blinders on. Race doesnt matter, there are ignorant people of every color.

Also.....Tila Tequila is a stupid slut, and most likely made all this crap up.

IMO, all too often people have blinders on when it comes to these situations. If someone commits a crime, and they are good at something, all of a sudden the situation is "different". The list is a long one, when it comes to athletes/actors/celebrities that have been caught on the other side of the law. For some reason just because he can sack a quarterback well, or dunk a basketball like noone else, he is above the law? Society is warped, and some of the people on here fall into that category.

Couple months back Chris Brown(singer) choked his girlfriend until she blacked out, but because the guy can sell his stupid music, its all ok. Do you really think OJ wasnt guilty, or Kobe? Please..........too many people looking through rose colored glasses. It doesnt matter if he is guilty or not, money will get him off. Too bad for Vick he was charged in Virginia, being a commonwealth state, we dont take any crap here.

There is some truth to this.

Nice info 89 . Thanks for your service , you are right , too many people look to blame first ignoring evidence / facts . It is sad the same people who always blame the cops , are the ones who would bitch at them for taking 5 minutes to respond to an emergency to help them or a loved one .

The Deputies saw no signs of phyiscal injuire to her , but she insisted and she made a citizens arrest from what i heard from a Department spokes person. Anyone can make a citzen arrests which forces a police officer to make an arrest. This puts the liablity on her if he is innocent because she made a citizen or private persons arrests. As a retired Deputy you have to advise people that when they make a citizens arrests they can be sued for false arrest. This case will not even get filed by the DA'S OFFICE due to lack of evidence but because he is a High Profile suspect it will get more attention.
He may get suspended by the league if anything and i doubt that if the case doesnt get filed. Any woman or man can call the police and file a criminal complaint that he or she assualted them.
Well like I thought this case wasn't going to get filed on by the San Diego Da's office.

2. No criminal charges were filed or pursued in Ben's case
Shawn was arrested by cops at the alleged scene.

does either of those rule out innocent until proven guilty, no, but they do leave different first impressions.
Exactly. That's why I said his ass is grass. I think he'll get served a suspension on top of this.

Obviously I'm guilty of that from my opening post but in all honesty I now feel that the second explanation is probably what happened, especially given Tila's reputation, and if thats the case Merriman should actually be commended. I've had times were I was way to passive when I knew that friends were going to attempt to drive under the influence. In fact last fall there was a guy that I didn't know very well but he was obviously tanked at a party that I was attending. Shortly afterwards he got in his truck, drove over a curve and almost got T-Boned by an oncoming car that promptly honked it's horn. Part of me thought it was kind of funny but at the same time I obviously had a grip on the situation and yet I didn't do anything to stop it.

Maybe he could have gone about it better but if the explanation holds up he actually did a good thing. I mean if there's anyone I'd expect to have problems with alcohol it's Tila Tequila, look at her "last" name.

As far as Big Ben goes, well I guess that Ben has a different reputation then Shawn Merriman. Publicly he's seen as the type of guy, outside of a motorcycle accident and a few drunk pics, thats more of a wholesome family type and it's hard to believe that a guy like him would actually sexually assault someone. The mans idea of rebellion is writing Jesus saves on his cleats during games. I mean I know he's not a saint but he's not exactly a huge party guy either.

Merriman on the other hand has a repuatation for living a fast and furious type lifestyle, I mean for God sakes up to this point he was going steady with Tila Tequila. On top of that his history with steroids pretty much sealed a conclusion in everyones mind that has been posting on ESPN, SI, and PFT. If you look at the comments you can't go far without a poster suggesting roid rage. I'd imagine if Mark McGwire was ever in a similar situation you would see the same line of commentary.
