Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
i thought the defense would play a lot of press man to man because of our improved d-line but our corners are giving such a huge cusion it's rediculous(sp). i'm extremely disappointed in the defense sofar this season.
btw, i agree with the comment about making orakpo a full time pass rusher, forget that lb crap.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
Greg Blache at the Bears...
"During his tenure, Blache's defenses forced 138 turnovers, including 37 in 2001, the most by a Bears defense since 1990, and accounted for 13 touchdowns (two in 1999, four in 2000, five in 2001, one in 2002, and one in 2003). In 2002, Blache dealt with numerous injuries, leading to 11 different starting line-ups over the course of 16 games. While juggling personnel, the Bears defense continued with their attacking, aggressive style that set records during the 2001 season. They forced 64 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and reached a league plateau by forcing at least one turnover in 33 consecutive games, the second longest active streak in the NFL at the time. In 2001, Blache molded the Bears defense into one of the top units in the league, producing the top-ranked scoring defense by allowing only 203 points in 16 games (12.7 points per game). His run defense finished second in the NFL and first in the NFC, allowing just 82.1 yards per game, while allowing only three rushes of 20 yards or more all seasons and only six rushing touchdowns." Is this the same guy that runs our defense?

Problems go beyond Greg Blache. Problems lie in talent level.

This isn't the offense which just sort of has to stay the course and hope for internal development. We've spent 3 of the last 4 years rebuilding the defense, and if the current guys aren't going to get it done, you can lose with the young backups (like Barnes, Tryon, Montgomery, Jarmon, Orakpo at RE, Blades, Westbrook, etc). It might not be any better, but until you find out of the young talent can actually play, you don't have a talent issue.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
Quote:
- Orakpo, Best defensive player in the 2009 draft. - Haynesworth, arguably the best DT in football, certainly top 5. - Griffin, aging but still solid - Carter, solid rush end, average to slighty sub-par in run D - backup DTs, average - Fletcher, Pro Bowl caliber MLB - Rocky, average - Landry, very fast, very talented S. Lacks maturity so far. - Horton, better than average SS - Rogers, above average CB - Smoot, good tackler, good in short-mid Zone coverage, liability in man - Doughty, above average backup SS overall, sub-par in coverage - Hall, playing below expectations. So the D has a Pro Bowl or near PRo Bowl caliber player at every level and no glaring weaknesses. This is not a case of trying to make chicken salad with chicken shit.

We'll get Blache too. He will suffer for this outrage!

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
Well if you are a good coach you bring the best out of average players and make good players better. We were stopping teams on 3rd down a few years ago with the same players and we supposedly upgraded this year. Come again!!

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
You are assuming as Redskins have for the last decade, that we have quality talent instead of over paid players. That is a big assumption. Good players make good plays. Good players stop receivers. Good players don't play 10 yards off because they are afraid they will get beat. Good players make tackles.

i thought Blache called the right plays but i think Zorn should be accountable because for 3rd straight week, the entire team wasnt motivated.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
How are other teams motivated? Does this signal a problem with the players we sign? The direction of the franchise? Why do we seem to talk about motivation year in and year out? Are players just coming to DC for a big pay day?

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
Someone needs to be punished, and it isn't JC. It was really clear today, that we got out coached. JC had a really good game passing the rock, but we still lack the play calling creativity to push it in. This is probably going to be the one time that Snyder doesn't jump to a quick decision. This will last all year long, and I think it's going to be a painful one.
