Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I definitely agree that if Kevin Smith didn't get hurt the game would not have been as close because they would have chewed up more of the time on the clock when they were already dominating the clock.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I have had this name 'defense wins' since day 1 of joining the Warpath.net.
I wanted 'defense wins championships', but this sight would not allow that many letters for my WP name. I do not claim to know more than everyone else, but i have played and seen enough football in my 44 years to know a great defense when I see one. This is not personal. I do not like Blache as a coach. I do not like his schemes. I do not like how he runs a defense. We have the talent on our defense to at least be a good defense, but we are under-performing. That falls on the coaches. One major thing that jumped out at me on Sunday while switching to the other games during commercials of the Redskins game: The dominate defenses (Steelers, Giants) run stunt or twists plays between their DT's and DE's on obvious pass plays. They were doing it on almost every pass play with great sucess. We did not against the Lions. I went back and looked at some of the the Lions game (on dvr) and our d-lineman ran straight at the Lions O-lineman trying to bull rush them with very poor results. I tried to find a play where one of our DT's and DE's ran a twist/pick play and i could not find one. I did not go back back and watch the entire game, but I was amazed that I was having trouble finding one twist play. This is just one example of a poorly run defense. Blache's defense is unimaginative and simple. We do not dictate to the offense, we read and react. It is difficult for me to watch our defense right now. This teams level of play has regressed from the playoff team Gibbs and co. left Vinny and Dan. That is obvious. The same way our team regressed from the Norv team to the Spurrier teams. Since the short winning streak early last year, we have slowly gotten worse. Lions game was the wake up call. |

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
no matter what the stats are, you simply dont let the lions go 99 yards on you. Blache, you, I, the national media, and everyone knew Skins needed to be a pure defensive team. Somehow the Skins havent improved much defensively despite get big AH and keeping D. Hall.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
You can get away with being an asshole when you post great results. With Blache, we're getting plenty of a-hole and a little light on results......getting old
AND Bend, don't break makes me ill....Dex is ashamed as well

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I was openly skeptical about this washed up chump and his ridiculous secondary scheme before the season even started and now I have a strong distaste for the man.
He stinks. I hope he is the reason Landry is not developing and once we get rid of him Landry will get his act together although that might be wishful thinking. |

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I am so tired of seeing this scheme by our defense. Our DB's sit back almost 10 yards every play and we get no pressure on any QB. A freaken rookie just beat us. An arrogant rookie who we did not force into any bad plays by our scheme. How about we press in coverage and bring some real blitz every now and then. This crap we play of "lets give up 10 yards a play but not the big one" will beat us all season. Pile on top of that an offensive line with no push forward will never allow us to have a running game.

Was just watching NFL Network and they said that the Redskins were LAST in 3rd down defense.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
Whoever is giving Blache a free pass needs to get their head out their ass like Blache does. Since Greg Williams left our defense has been on the decline. I think it has a lot to do with Blache going away from things that were successful in the past. Because of his own arrogance and stubborness. Seems like common sense to me. We have some of the same core players and suposedly upgraded at some positions. I will say that we miss Marcus Washington & Shawn Springs. But they couldn't stay healthy.

I think it's about even. But honestly, weren't you expecting much more out of the defense?

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
When you spent a ton of money on the defense, both the players and the coaches are going to hear criticism. Personally I think both the defense and offense equally share the blame for the team's lack of success, oh yeah and the coaches too.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I think the people responsible for bringing in and paying those players are the ones to blame. One is not a professional and doesn't take his job seriously enough to get in game shape, and the other has been a cancer whereever he's been, plus he sucks.

Re: Greg Blache needs to be held accountable!!
I guess you're just gonna run with that take all year. He's in the same shape he was in while with the Titans, and he's played over 70% of the snaps this year.

This is the problem with fans and the media, they just want to find that ONE thing that is causing trouble, when the WHOLE organization is fucking up. I'm sorry but if Haynesworth and Hall were the only ones fucking up, I'd be with you on that one, don't be so shallow and try to blame this mess on one thing.
