If Gibbs came here, it would be all sizzle and no steak. Great for ratings, but I fear little production. |

I think a lot of people aren't clear on what Parcells role is there. He's not the GM and he's not as hands on as people think. Gibbs would play the same role here. Hire a GM, help hire a coach. It's not a very hands on, down and dirty position. It's just an overseeing of the football ops more than anything. |

Joe Gibbs just seems removed and detached, until Danny calls him, from the day-to-day goings on of the NFL. I'm certain there's a flow of information and exchange that you're only privy to because you're plugged in. That's something you can't just jump in and out of and get real feel for. I guess to make my point more clear, SmootSmack works for ESPN. I'll bet when goes on vacation and returns to work, all kinds of shit has gone on behind the scenes around the league that he's not up to speed on. And we're just talking about a week. As far as Parcells not being GM, wasn't it his choice to cut ties with Jason Taylor and then bring him back into the fold? That sounds like GM to me. |

Honestly, none of them. And this might completely shock some people here, but if I had to choose between Cerrato and Gibbs on a football level today. Right now. It would be Cerrato hands down. I'm talking about take the emotion of meeting Joe Gibbs out of it, I would rather deal with Cerrato. You just can't replace "right now" knowledge in the NFL. That's Danny's big blind spot and it's hurting this team badly. He's called in Sherm Lewis and now, possibley, Joe Gibbs - again. He seems to believe that success in the past is transferable to today's NFL culture. It isn't. |

I am not advocating for Gibbs, but at least if he was given the role to build a management team for the Redskins I am all for it. There is nothing in the article stating that he would be drafting players or have much of a say after siad management team was in affect. VC has no knowledge of the NFL right now either? See the current status of our entire offensive roster. The one he and Joe G built. It is awful. Joe G isn't going to come in here to be the GM, just to put the pieces in place and back away.

I don't care if it's Gibbs or someone else, but with a credible and respected team prez in place, or whatever the title is, it would make working in D.C. a much more attactive proposition. The coach and GM would primarily interact with the team president taking the owner that much further out of the picture. I think it's a good move to make, like I said whether it's Gibbs or someone else. |

Whether it's good, bad or indifferent, if this rumor has substance I will say that it certainly shows an undying faith and commitment to this organization the likes of which I have never witnessed in all the years I have been a fan of this team. |

Re: PFT Rumor - Joe Gibbs is Coming Back
It was not my intention to absolve Gibbs of any responsibility. I was concentrating more on his desire to be here than some here may want him to return. You and 12th man both make excellent points however.

SFREDSKIN:
Danny and Vinny cannot be the two "sticking points" because if Danny were one of them, Gibbs would just not take any calls on the subject of coming back to the Skins. I said I do not know what the "sticking points" are, but it is not logical that Danny Boy is one of them.
