Well, the importance of play from the defensive front seven is the same no matter what you play, but 3-4 overemphasizes LB play, while 4-3 does the same for the DL. Right now, our DL is far beyond where our LBs are, so a 4-3 system is best. All it takes though, is an exchange of Carter, for say, Shawne Merriman (just an example), and this becomes a perfect 3-4 unit.
