I think many playcallers use a measurement opportunity to plan 2 or 3 plays, zorn was clear he didn't use it to plan any. I will be glad Tuesday to start seeing threads with titles like "Lewis should be our OC" or "Our offense does have a clue" and going into the bye week on a positive note after all this negativity
I have no idea how many teams relay plays, but our situation is not a good one. For the last 22 games Zorn has called the plays into JC's ear. Now we have one Sherman talking to the other Sherman who then relays the call to JC. A big change. We've had enough time management issues as is. JC was right this week in saying he'll have a play or two in his head in case the call doesn't get there in time.

Sadly, I predict that the offense lays an egg similar to last week, but this time in front of a national audience. How can it improve this week? I just don't see it. Not against a far superior divisional opponent.

We will certainly see on Monday, but I think the time management, and delays were caused by Zorn's methodology. If I understand right, and I really don't know, Zorn waited for a play to end to get the situation for the next play. So in 45 or 30 seconds he had to find the position of the ball get a precise down and distance and then look for the "perfect" play. There were no 2 plays in at a time, or case 1/case 2 scenarios. Thus any wrinkle caused a delay. I hope Lewis is looking ahead, and therefore he can give Smith the play quicker than Zorn could.
Thats my hope and expectation.
