Re: Our next coach??
There's so much talk of it being nearly a lock that Shanahan will be the next coach here...but I can't shake the feeling that something else is up. That there's someone else who's being secretly lined up.

Re: Our next coach??
The more I hear it's a lock the more I doubt it happening. Remember Grilliams and Fassel were 'locks' at one point in '08.

To be honest, if we can't land Cowher, i'm on board from promoting Lewis and Meidt: Lewis as HC and and Meidt as OC. Lewis is old, but the spark he's brought this team is undeniable. If he didn't want the job (and at his age, i'd understand), then i'm all for promoting Gray or bringing back GG. basically, our offense finally seems like its clicking and, unless we bring in Cowher, I don't want to see it change. To be honest, I would no longer be as upset if Vinny sticks around. His 2008 draft picks all seem to be panning out nicely and he was on the money bringing in Lewis. Of course, if the rumors are true about Vinny bad-mouthing Snyder around the league, he might be gone no matter what.

Zorn definitely was not involved in the process and was opposed to the whole idea of bringing in someone else. I also think we can definitively say that whomever recommended Sherman, it wasnt Holmgren - he's publically bashed the skins for bringing in someone else and embarrassing Zorn in that way.

I know that when Zorn told Cerrato he was in that they were supposed to figure out who it was going to be.. that's where my speculation comes from |

Re: Our next coach??
Mooch was my personal favorite for the coaching job last year. If they brought him in and got a respectable talent evaluator then I could die happy.

Re: Our next coach??
I put it in the "who stay and who goes" thread but some one called in, in regards to DS staying late at Redskins park last night and of course the rumors are that Shanahan is a lock and DS was finalizing specifics.

Re: Our next coach??
Why? It appears that DS is not making any big moves until after the season. That gives him a month to work all of that out without burning the midnight oil.

Re: Our next coach??
It sounded more like DS was meeting with people in regards to when or how he wants the announcement made. Again.....rumor mill. Supposedly DS was up late meeting with someone or some people whome no one knows who they were. Secret squarl stuff ya know. Trust me I'm not estatic about the idea....I would have prefered Marty and son, but I'll take Shanahan and Co. over Zorn, Fassel, and Marriucci. Heck I'd take Jimmy Johnson over them.
