Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I dont know guys i just get the feeling that the players run the team. I'm sure Zorn feels that way too.
I mean Campbell was benched for 1 half, but i bet Snyder or someone told him "you had better go with Jason in the next game or it's your job". Portis is too tight with Snyder to be benched....and that's an accountability issue. Players shouldn't be that close with owners/coaches....it just skews the authority/accountability issue.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
Rock is tight with Snyder as well, but you don't see him vaulting CP and Betts to be the starting RB.
Anyhow, Zorn has final say on who's starting. He didn't say anything on his show today to indicate otherwise

Damn, CL why you had to go debunking my theory. Everything lined up so nicely too. Especially the little interview I dug up about Portis liking the Saints.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
The difference is that Betts workload has been considerably less that Portis' in his career. So although Betts may be older in age he's much younger in terms of wear and tear. Not arguing one way or the other, just saying.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
im with canton on this. the best players PLAY. even Snyder cant F*** that up, can he? and Betts isn't the best running back on the roster. so why does every one around here always think the back ups are better then the starters? that, and its really easy to switch positions once they come here?

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
would we agree that the skins Oline that played this week was probably the best line they have to offer? lets see what Portis does behind that line before you go and make wild statements. Betts is at best a career back up

I wouldn't agree that this this line they have had to offer....Portis had Thomas and Samuels for at least one game...didn't look nearly as good as Betts. |

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
LMFAO at the comment about the best players play.
That is ABSOLUTLEY not true on the team at this point in time. Doc Walker said it before the season started it, absolutley everybody has said it. Starting jobs here are anointed. there is no competition...unless injury happens. that's sad.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I also get so tired of hearing that "Portis is the whole offense"
That's such a ridiculous statement, but if is true....then you see the reason why we ranked like a paltry #28 in overall offense, and only 17 pts a game. THE VERY FIRST TIME PORTIS DIDNT START....we got out of the losing slump, and Betts ran for 114 yards...so there you go on Portis being the whole offense. I guess it's true. When portis is out, the whole offense opens up.

Portis is the golden child, most likely gets special treatment and throws his teammates under the bus... its probably a whole lot easier to block for a guy who shows up to practice every day, keeps his mouth shut and just does his job....just my opinion. |

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I'm just sick of everything that has to do with him now.
I appreciate his contributions to the team...but seriously he hasnt been a factor since halfway last season. He brings nothing to the field anymore other than a bad attitude and poor work ethic. People would support him and rally for him if he would just change his attitude, but he doesnt care. He is set in his ways and i hope it finds him out of a job soon....The next coach will hopefully see these things, and at least relegate portis to a backup role, if he is not released.
