Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
this offseason someone made a thread saying portis isnt worth the money or headache. i kinda agreed with him saying the skisn were dumb to re-negogiate his K and guarantee so much money to a runningback (which seems to be the easiest position to replace nowadays).
i also said Cp only gets as many yards as the Oline clears for him. i and the OP were greeted with a bunch of "if you think portis is a prob then you dont know football" or "yeah lets blame our 1500 yd back" responses. idk its alil frustrating to be criticized for stating an opinion then (seemingly) having the masses who once criticized your football iq start agreeing with you. no big deal, i was drunk and alil aggitated by the game. i also think portis and moss dont try 110% for the past few seasons and i question their heart compared to guys like fletcher. i am greeted with responses like "there is no stat for heart" or "its just silly to question a guys heart" . . basically this season has made me a lil jaded and i do apologize. go skins!!

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
In all fairness to CP when he was in there he had Falcons right in his face. There were no holes. CP may not be what he once was but if there is a hole he hits it.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I wouldnt say Portis is a problem, he is not a primary back anymore. I think we need to see someone else back there. Betts isnt the answer and Rock is about done. I like to see Portis getting a third of the carries back there, his isnt a twenty touch guy anymore. Our bigger issue is the Oline and receivers.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
He just looked faster and more energetic today. He ripped off several solid gains. Portis is beat up and has lost a few steps. I think the fact that Betts is so fast to the hole is more of what we need with our patchwork O-line. The few decent holes they can produce don't stay open very long.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
when a team is losing its easy to find scapegoats......the fact is that portis may be the best player on your entire team......its a shame he is starting to speak up about his unhappiness but he deserves the fans respect simply because of his talent level and his patience to wait this long before saying something

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
Portis is what he is - a back with high mileage, and probably little left. Then again, who would look good week in, week out playing behind this O-line???

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I dont want to get on Portis too much, if at all... While I'm ready to move on from him overall, I dont think its fair to blame him for much of anything with the way this season has gone. As a complete back (blocking, receiving, ect) he's by far the best on our team, and people like ot give him a lot of sh*t, but he's been one of the most consistant players for us since he has gotten here, and provided an awful lot of memories....
....but I gotta say, I was very suprised at how well I thought Betts was running the ball today. Thats as good as anyone has run the football for us all season long. Its really crazy how much better that guy runs when he is "the guy" and not the change of pace guy. I'd like to see a bit more of him next week if Portis can't go.... But saying Portis is a "big" problem, makes me feel like people are trying to blame him for the teams play, when I dont think thats the case at all.
