Leading the NFL in tackles. Most of them around the line of scrimmage too.

It' so hard to not think about what could have been with Sean Taylor and Laron Landry roaming around out there bringing the ruckus. Check out this clip of the hit on Kevin Walter from a fan's perspective:

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Honestly Landry was lucky to not get flagged on that hit.

That said, you've gotta love what LL is doing this year so far.

I love seeing this out of Landry. For the first time in a while he is being used as he should be! He's having a blast out there

And so far, slightly less trash-talking and bone-headed late hits out of bounds. I like what i'm seeing; the guy is a freak lurking around the line of scrimmage

I think the OP should come back and re-name it.

THAT is what Sean did so well. Always near the ball. ST scared the hell out of many people that had to cross "his turf". I hope LL can continue to evolve in that direction.......

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Landry played with intensity last year, but missed 99% of his tackles. This year he is an animal. He is playing with intensity that I have never seen from him. He is hitted like a truck and actually wrapping guys up and getting tackles. He is all over the field, including the backfield.

He is beginning to look like Sean Taylor in my eyes. Words I never thought I'd say.

Its only been two games and some of you guys are acting like he's the reincarnation of Ronnie Lott.
I think I'll wait until January till all is forgiven.
Landry has a lot of mediocre play to make up for.

Not really, but after 2 games I think a few things are obvious. He's being used to his strengths in this defense. He's playing closer to the line where he can headhunt backs and blitz the QB. He's also playing with a renewed sense of confidence. This is the perfect type of defense for him unlike under Blache where he was horribly miscast as a free safety.

This is sorta where I'm at. Landry has proven he's not a bust; however, I think at this point he's far from an overall dominant safety. Very strong this year against the run and obviously made enormous strides in form, technique and tackling. Landry is still a bigtime liability in coverage...sorta more of the same: bad angles, etc. In both games he's blown coverage, especially when the corner blitz has been called and apparently it becomes Landry's assignment to pick-up the WR. He's given up plays like the rest of our defense, especially against the Texans.

...he reminds me of Roy in Dallas for all those years. Tough as nails against the run but eventually teams learned how to exploit his weaknesses. It will be very interesting to see if Landry gets to the next level.
