Crazy thought here, but what if the team somehow manages to pull it together down the stretch and finish around .500? Do we still dump Zorn?

We dump Vinny and let the new, real GM make the decision

If that happens, we still need to dump Cerrato and the new guy will bring in his own coach etc.

If Gruden, gets an offer he likes he'll jump ship from ESPN.

Interesting you mention that because in reality, we have not heard anyone in the organization say Zorn will not return next year. The only people hyping the Zorn firing have been fans and media types.

When Cerrato anounced Zorn would be the coach for the remainder of the season, he also used the word "beyond" which could imply thinking beyond 2010. As for Gruden, I've never thought he was the man for either the team or the town. Happy he's extended with ESPN.

Yeah, this thought has come into my mind and scares me. He can't be trusted to call plays, but we would keep him another year? Yes, it IS possible for some reason.

I think we need a housecleaning that includes Cerrato and Zorn.

Shame that Gruden apparently is out of the running, I would have loved to see him here. He IS a great announcer though, he's becoming one of my favorites and helps cancel out Jaws.

The only way Zorn stays next year is if Snyder can't land Gruden, Cowher,Shannahan, Holmgren, etc... which is becoming increasingly likely right now.

But logically Zorn would have to be gone before Snyder can attempt to land a coach like you previously named. I wonder if we'd even be having the 'what if' discussion if Denver would have blown our doors off yesterday.

I still say there's no way that Zorn stays. Lewis isn't going to want to return next year and Snyder won't sit idly by and ignore how bad it's been since last October. The only thing that saves Zorn is about 9 more straight wins.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Snyder is like a monkey swinging from tree to tree. He won't let go of one branch until he has hold of another.

I guess I'm forced on to the save Zorn bandwagon then! (I'll take 9 straight wins -haters can hush) Seriously, if he can accept not calling plays, and we can get some OL help, maybe Sherm Smith goes, and a young playcaller comes in, why couldn't Zorn stay? My biggest knock on him was and is playcalling/stubborness, but if he can adapt, and lead this team in an end of year turnaround (not saying he can or will) then maybe he could be head coach.

Zorn may well be here cause who wants to work for Snyder? Jim Fassell maybe but I don't think any of the high profile coordinators or ex coaches would ever come here.

I think it's been established by people that know more than you and I that this is not an issue.

This would piss me off. Yes. If anything at all....if DS is thinking this aint too bad, ....keep Sherm Lewis who is doing his best to fix this cluster.

Even though he has/is going to sign an agreement with ESPN, usually there is a clause in the contract which states that if they get picked up by a team to be their HC they can leave with out any problems. So Gruden is still possibly on the table. It just shows he's happy where he is and most likely wants to make sure he is still getting paid unless the right HCing job comes along.

I was just having this discussion with my son yesterday after the win. I think the worst thing we could do at this point is finish out strong. The beginning of the season will be forgotten by Syneratto... nothing would get fixed.

Agreed. While I love seeing us win, I don't think short term success this year (which at this point means nothing more than 7 or 8 wins) will do us any good in the future. It will only cater to Danny's thinking that he may have the right structure in place. As much as it pains me to say so, I hope we fall flat on our face just enough to force Danny to make wholesale changes. Maybe that's already happened.
