have you?

how comfortable do you feel getting called out for not knowing the team you call your own?

you are a pessimist and look for the worst thing in everything....portis is in the prime of his career and you are letting a losing season get in the way of the truth

there are teams around the league that would love to have a quality back like clinton portis......but you're probably right.....portis is washed up at 27 years old and nearly 10000 career rushing yards

Still haven't answer the question....I question whether or not you have even seen him play this year.

But yes, I have watched every game/carry/yard of CP's career in DC

I am far from a pessimist....I see the good that Betts could do for the team if the organization stops cow towing to CP because he has a bloated contract.

he is 28 by the way, with a ton of injuries piling up, thats far from "in his prime" by NFL running back standards.

lol in 8 years betts has had more than his fair share of chances

betts has averaged 4.1 yards per carry over his career of 8 years....but nearly every average goes down over a longer sample size....thats just how things work.......so why is portis still averaging 4.5 yards per carry after carrying the ball nearly 1400 more times?

because he is better

betts is at the age in which people start to think running backs go downhill......portis is at his prime and is capable of carrying your team.....but he cant do that when hes only getting 15 carries per game

Serious question. Are you related to Portis?

nope......seen my fair share of unreasonable hating on players

ive done my fair share of bashing players without a good reason.....ive been in the trenches begging teams to get rid of players because they are washed up.....usually its a symptom of a losing season.....and im big enough to admit that

the saints are very good at losing and the fans are very good at callin out players.....but they are also very good at supporting the team

most saints fans are big enough to stand up and admit that losing brings out the worst in people......unfortunately you guys arent......and i completely understand....the redskins have a rich, proud history and losing is fairly new....but get over it.....you guys will rebound and portis will carry you guys once again

thank god the coach doesnt listen to the fans.......oh wait

The only time Betts had a legit opportunity to be the feature back he ripped off 5 straight 100 yard games.

But this thread isn't about Betts, its about Portis...

I just don't see how you are drawing the conclusion that Portis can "carry the team" what has he shown this year to prove that? On the best run of his career he couldn't even score with one man to beat and a blocker in front. Name on other top 5 back that does that?

how about rather than blaming that on portis, giving the credit to the defender.....thats where you are a pessimist......its portis' fault because he didnt score on a GREAT RUN......be happy he put your team in a position to score.....dont hate him because the blocker couldnt block or the defender made a fantastic play

I do wonder if you have watched Portis this year and last. CP can pile up numbers, but he can't hit a home run ball. I don't have stats/numbers/links, but I feel confident in saying CP has often been caught from behind, or steps out rather than bull through at the end of a long run. And this year he really had a lot of difficulty running up the back of his blocker when a hole was open that he missed.

I like Zorn's approach, telling CP he is the starter, if and when he practices a full week. Hopefully Betts sees it as his chance to get more playing time, and if and when CP is practicing full tilt, then he is the better back.

Dude, come on....seriously? Sellers busted his ass getting down the field and actually made 2 blocks before that....In MY OPINION a top 5 running back cuts behind Sellers block and scores easily. And dude seriously, I don't "hate" anyone...geese.

i gotta go to work so i'll address everyone else later but its clear the the fullback couldnt maintain the block downfield

he lost his footing and the defender made a great play in the open field with more defenders in persuit

portis could have cut back, if he wanted to trip over his blocker or get caught from behind waiting for his blocker to get further downfield.....but he didnt.....he didnt have the opportunity to cut back because he had caught up with his blocker so fast and there were defenders behind him

You gonna criticize a man after a 70 plus yard run?!!!!!!! You just don't like Portis. You don't like him dressing up and getting attention and being happy and having a good relationship with the owner. That's not football related. I am loyal to Portis the man has been our work horse. I don't think being a free spirit warrants criticism of a 70 plus yeard run from scrimmage. WOW!!

On that run ninety percent of the running backs in this league cut it back the other way and score a touchdown. Portis wasn't scrutinzed as much because, well, it was a 78 yard run.

But it's clear you either have a bone to pick about Portis or you just flat out don't what you're talking about. It's one or the other. Don't give me this crap about coming to another fan site defending Clinton Portis' honor. Your argument is based 100% on what Portis has done in the past, not what he's done this year.

He's arguing that based on past stats. He hasn't seen the games this year.

i told you id be back.....after practice ehem work

im arguing based on his career......his career is currently in the present but im using his past stats because he has been injured this season

he isnt a giant baby and he plays through injuries unlike a lot of players in the league.....he carries the load by himself even tho he is injured.....im using his stats last season because he wasnt injured.....because he was healthy for the majority of the season and you saw what he could do

this year he is getting 6 less carries per game than he got last year and at an average of 4 yards per carry, thats 24 more yards your team is missing on the ground

its easier to look at a complete season and tell how someone has bounced back after an injury than look at their current injured season to see how they have played.......portis is injured now, hes been injured before and he bounced back very well

1262 yards well
