And what might that mistake be? He went to another team and got more money than he could get from the Redskins FO while at the same time making the playoffs with his new team instead of missing the playoffs here.

I don't know why everyone is assuming we will lose Smoot? As if someone else is going to break the bank for him, we are not the only team in the NFL who think's Smoot is a good corner but not a franchise type corner, who is going to give Smoot the kind of signing bonus he want's? I think at the end of the day when he has a chance to feel out other team's he will come to realize that we have made him a very nice offer and DC is where he fit's in best, A lot of success can be attributed to William's and his ability to use Smoot the right way, who know's how someone else will use him? I'm willing to bet the rams as well as other were thinking the same thing about Dre Bly but then the lions laid done a much bigger contract than anyone else was offering to make sure they got him. didn't he get a contract at the time that made him put him in the top 10 CBs pay wise where as he's somewhere in the top 10-20 range in skill?
