Re: Climategate

wouldn't one be alittle naive to think we can put all of this crap into the air, water, and underground, without any consequences? im no scientist, but it seems like common sense

it is common sense, there are impacts. But is Global Warming one of those impacts? There's no definitive proof.

I think there are negative consequences via the acts of modern man but i also think we need to find out if they outweigh the benefits of having a modern society.

Just like recycling. Does it make you feel good to do it, sure. But does the practice of consumer recycling outweigh the costs attributed to the act?

Global Warming Fast FactsNational Geographic News

Yes. Earth is already showing many signs of worldwide climate change.

• Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades, according to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

• The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. And the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850.

• The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.

• Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss.

• Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana's Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later.

• Coral reefs, which are highly sensitive to small changes in water temperature, suffered the worst bleaching—or die-off in response to stress—ever recorded in 1998, with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent. Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise.

• An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.

What scientist provided them with that info? 2008 was the coldest in a decade. What happened to all those major hurricans we where told that would increase each year?

Yes , because man stopped driving cars , started making " fake " snow = for skiing ... and Firstdown drank antifreeze before pi$$ing off his boat . In all seriousness , I'am 100% in favor of cleaner water , air , just about anything we can use to our advantage as far as buying less oil from outside our borders .

If I won the lottery I would get a Prius as my daily driver, not because I want to save the Earth, or fit in with my new rich friends , but because I want America independent on foreign oil.

Being wasteful and purposely polluting or littering is wrong, but forcing others to believe in something you do is wrong too. To tax the hell out of everyone based on their carbon output is ridiculous, when the tax comes from unproven and manipulated “facts”.

Honestly i mean it. Obviously if I win I would also have some sweet ass cars, but my daily driver would be a hybrid. You’ve seen how far ive come – I mean honestly would you ever think I would drive a 4cyl Honda 10 years ago? 5 years ago? 3 years ago?

But I don’t know if I would drive it that much, I could imagine living in a sweet ass house (that’s completely trashed after a couple months) that I never leave and just drink myself retarded night after night…..

Just don't pull out infront of me in that Prius while I'm driving my gas sucking Full Size Yukon while pulling my 24 1/2 foot boat drinking beer and chunking the cans out the windows. Actually I don't know why anyone that does not need to drive around one of those full size SUV's do. I drove that Yukon to work for a week and burned over $100 in fuel and my other SUV I burn around $45 per week. The only reason I have it is I need the size and power to pull my boat but thats the only reason.
