Kickers seem to have a much less linear path to success (no pun intended) than most positions outside of qb. Some seem to struggle & then find their groove, only to lose it again. Seems like its the position w/the highest turnover in the nfl. ONly a handful of teams have kept kickers long term in the salary cap era.

Remember that Norvell cut David Akers, who then went on to Philly & has had quite a career since.

With Gano, I hope he's at that point that he starts to find his groove. He's got a 3 year deal w/1 guaranteed so he'll have his chances this year & next.
