Portis has to now think about his life and future in general. His agent said all the right things. Of course he isn't going to come out and say "oh he might be retiring, i dunno it looks pretty bad". He gave the standard PR line that Clinton will be back next year.
This is an issue that will be addressed in the offseason. There is no reason to make a big deal of it now. If Portis is forced to retire, he will do it in the off-season...not during the season....
