I remember a sports analyst saying that Gibbs had 4 years to go to the superbowl, because afterward, all the contracts and players would be old and have cap troubles. Maybe they were right.

That is why you don't build a team through free agency. They are more expensive and just unpredicable as rookies. Plus it seems like whe you build your team through free agency they can get old overnight. A few years ago our offensive line was the strongest unit on our team. Now they are the weakest unit on our team. That is why the draft is so important. You can build quailty depth at a cheap price.
