Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

Redskins Insider is now reporting that Portis has called Campbell to "clear the air" about his comments earlier in the day:

Redskins Insider - Your daily source for news and commentary on the Washington Redskins, by Jason Reid

Looks like a few players backed Campbell on this one! Hopefully Campbell gets the message that being a leader is more than being tough and having good character. It's about setting goals and seeing that those goals are accomplished. Portis was a complete ass to mouth off in public, but maybe this can be a "teaching moment" for both guys.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

I didnt hear the interview so I cant quite understand how Portis meant it,seeing it in print isnt the same as hearing it.While i'm glad Jason took up for himself,I wish he would have shown that fire on the field,he always had the same demeanor no matter what was happening.Thats one thing Portis says I have to agree with
"Portis was asked why he isn't a team captain, and Portis took that ball and ran with it, ultimately laying a few shots on Campbell, the man whom teammates elected offensive captain before the season. So, why Campbell and not Portis?

"I wonder the same thing," Portis said. "And no disrespect to Jason, but everybody in that locker room can tell you, you'll never see Jason mad, you'll never see Jason's tempo change, you'll never see Jason get mad."

and I would add I dont know if Ive ever seen him smile, maybe he just never had anything to smile about.Say what you will about Romo, but i love the way he shows enthusiasm for the game, same thing with Favre, you never see that with JC

Why keep him? Locker room cancer, me-first mouth and ego, no salary cap in 2010, he's beat to shit, and always makes waves...

If there is no new CBA by March, Portis will be one of the first to go IMO.

Trading him is one thing but cutting him outright is totally irrational and unacceptable. Portis still has it. He's 28 going on 29, not exactly spring chicken, but he certainly has a few more years left and better than anyone else we have on the roster IMO.

Trading is obviously better than cutting. But who will trade for Portis' fat contract? Likely the only practical way to get rid of Portis is to cut him.

Well, getting something for him (trading) is certainly better than nothing (cutting), but like Lotus said, who will want to trade for him? For who he is right now as a player, his contract is laughable. Cap or not, no team is going to want to give up picks/players to take on that contract and locker room BS aging cancer.

I promise you, no one's trading for CP anymore than they lined up to trade for Larry Johnson.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

I think JC could take Portis. I have more respect for JC now. There was a time when I said he was done. You know what, he isn't done. Portis is done. I don't think Shanny will tolerate a dirtbag prima dona like Portis on the roster. Unload his ass on Jacksonville or whoever will take his whack ass.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

I think CP will still be a Skin. With Shanny at the helm he should be part of an explosive backfield next year with a Rookie... and probally Ganther.

Shanny will keep Portis in line. I dont think CP will be cut people...

I was thinkin keep Campbell but..
Who knows... maybe theyll both just stay and fix the issues here.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

regardless of all the other bull crap, Portis is still the best running back on the roster. unless the skins come up with a better alternative, he is here next season

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

Portis is an old, washed up, dime a dozen runningback. Besides that, he is a low down, dirty, spineless piece of absolute shit. I am glad he had a season ending injury and I am only dissappoitned that it didn't cost him his career.

He doesnt deserve to be on this team. This team is made up of guys who care about each other. Portis was a locker room cancer long before he started breaking down physically. I blame Coach Joe for letting him get away with too much, but this is the final straw.

Get his worthless ass on a plane out of here. This guy is seriously too stupid for his own good. He had his prime like 6 years ago. I hate him and i want him gone.
