Alex Gibbs to join Carroll And if there was any thought that Shanahan might be bringing long-time assistant Alex Gibbs with him to Washington, you can forget about it. ESPN is reporting that Gibbs, most recently the assistant head coach of offense in Houston, will be joining Pete Carroll's staff in Seattle. Gibbs is considered to be the guru behind the zone-blocking scheme that has given Shanahan so much success over the years.
