Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
Haynesworth probably only has 2-3 good years left in him (shhh, don't tell any of our potential trade partners). We won't be a perennial contender by that time. I'd rather have two first round picks to use on starters who would be just starting to peak in 3 years.
Haynesworth's deal is really just for 3 more years anyway. its a capless season, so the perfect time to trade him. Any non-rebuilding team that feels like they are really just "one player away" from a superbowl in 2010 would gladly give up atleast a 1st and a 3rd or 4th for Haynesworth.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
I hate to be negative, but Hasslet and Venturi are proven losers. I am shocked that these are the guys we picked. Grey would have been an excellent choice, except for the fact that he could be viewed as a turn coat. Still, I would have rather had anyone, over this defensive staff so far. I think he is setting himself up to have the same crappy defense here as he did in Denver.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
I don't know much about Venturi as a position coach quite honestly. As a head coach though he blows. But he's not here to be our head coach
Haslett is getting a bit of a bad rap here. He's not a terrible DC. And if he sucks, one thing we've learned from Shanahan is that he won't hesitate to throw his DC overboard and just pick someone else.

In a 3-4 I think you can move AH around, he doesn't need to be pegged as a NT or DE.

Right now the main thing we're missing in the short run is an extra nose and a pass covering OLB. Of course Adalius Thomas might be available this offseason regardless of a new CBA. --W---A--N---E---S ---O--O--O--O--O--TE W= Will Linebacker A = Albert Haynesworth N= Nose E = End S= Sam Ends - Hayensworth, Golston, Alexander, Jarmon, Griffin NT - Montgomery OLB - Orakpo, Carter (~~eh~), Chris Wilson, Rocky McIntosh ILB - London, Blades, Rocky (again), Henson (Maybe he'll actually get a chance to play)

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
while i agree that our D's high ranking (in yds allowed) isnt indicative of their actual performance this year, I dont remember a team running the ball down out throats teh whole game and not being able to stop them like the boys game last year. to have a team run the ball down your throats is embarrasing and i dont think that happened this year.
last years boys game was hard to watch. this year, it was hard watching landry and our secondary.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
Well look at the Jets, Rex Ryan has told his players on defense that every player will get their chance to make a play. AH might have to be patient but his turn to make a play would hopefully come up.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Over and above any concerns we may have regarding the addition of Jim Haslett to the Redskins' coaching staff, we need to be mindful of the less fortunate. How will the UFL survive once Jim Haslett leaves? Think of all the sad Florida Tusker fans today...

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator
Haynesworth is not the only player on this team. It's unlikely that anyone would be able to make a scheme to match *everyone's* talents. If AH doesn't want to do what he's told, he can just fuck off -- he doesn't run this team. I get the feeling people would like to see our defense fit AH's talents, and they just don't care about anyone else, or the final product.
Also, the whole idea about adjusting schemes to fit personnel is kinda bogus to me. What if you have a QB that can't throw for shit? You don't just run the ball all the time, you find a QB that can throw. In any case, our focus should be to implement the best schemes, and we should find players who fit those schemes. If we can't find them now, then we might not switch schemes immediately, but our long term goal should be to move towards those schemes which are most effective.
