There is definitely something perverse about you starting a thread asking for help with your HD setup after going out of your way to tell everyone you wouldn't be helping the Haiti effort. I'm not saying I'm person of the year or anything, one could certainly judge me too, but this thread and its timing just look wretchedly awful imo.

I already helped the Haiti effort with my tax dollars. Writing a few lines about computer stuff costs nothing.

I am helping my dad do this exact same thing, firing the cable company to use his PC (that I built him last year) as his TV. We're putting in a high-resolution video card with TV-outs into his PC and are running some cabling from his office to his living room to the TV. He watches movies, old shows and the news online, so that's really all he needs...the cable package probably goes 80% unused by him.
