Al Davis insisting on keeping Russell; what about Tom Cable?
Trains of Thought in Oakland: Davis Wants Russell, What about Cable? | Bleacher Report
This is so much crap. Jamarcus Russell has been a bust from day 1 that he stepped foot in the NFL. No coach at this point in the NFL would have him as their starter except maybe Jim Zorn (only kidding), but how will that impact future coaches if indeed Cable is replaced? It looks like Cable is staying put for now; will it be like our situation where Tom Cable will be forced to start Jamarcus???

Russell is a mega bust. Odd but not surprising that Rich Gannon personally volunteered to help mentor him, and Davis gave him a big FU.

And also, Rich Gannon could still lace up the cleats now and play better than Russel has his whole career...

If Russell applied himself, he might actually have a future. The guy is fat & lazy and doesn't seem to give a crap about having a meaningful NFL career. Such a waste of talent.

That is his issue mainly he let that guarantee money dictate his decisions. He feels he is set for life and doesn't have to practice hard.

Re: Al Davis insisting on keeping Russell; what about Tom Cable?
Honestly, you put 25 Milliion in my bank account, I have a hard time killing myself over anything. Whatcha gonna do? Fire me. Okay, me and my money will go to ______ (insert personal paradise here).
What is amazing is that so many guys who get the big bucks play with passion. Really, with the amounts being handed out to some of these guys (rookies and UFA's), skill level is almost irrelevant to future production. If you're set for life, do you have the desire to go through grueling practices and risk potential injury and still play to the best of your abilities? JaMarcus apparrently answered the above question "No".

Re: Al Davis insisting on keeping Russell; what about Tom Cable?
If JR can get his act together and learn how to prepare like a NFL qb i think he could turn his career around. With some hard work and study sessions he could become atleast a decent starter. It doesnt help to have as many head coach changes as he has gone through in his career or be in Oakland with no real offensive help.

Re: Al Davis insisting on keeping Russell; what about Tom Cable?
At this point JR looks like a lost cause but I would let him ride the bench and hire him good QB coach just to work with him before completly giving up on hime. If Vince Young can do it he might be able to as well

Al Davis is a fucking moron, Russell is the biggest bust of all time. The fact that he is in the NFL right now is an absolute joke.

Re: Al Davis insisting on keeping Russell; what about Tom Cable?
I hope Tom Cable keeps FatMarcus on the bench. He is worthless as a QB. It proves what a "system QB" can and can't do in the NFL...

I share the same feeling as JoeRedskin, you have to ask yourself, where is the incentive when you've gotten paid before the job is even begun let alone complete. Hopefully soon the NFL will wake up to the realization that the pay structure is a farce and actually do something about it.

I'd be fat and worthless if someone gave me 25 million.
