Re: Bradford/Clausen now split among Mock Drafts

Honestly, these mocks kill me sometimes. Let's look at what they wrote about the Redskins:

Quote:
With the Redskins' evaluation of quarterback Jason Campbell very much ongoing, this pick obviously has the potential to change to the offensive tackle that Washington so desperately needs. We could go Oklahoma State tackle Russell Okung, and maybe we should. But for now, we're sticking with the headline-loving Redskins taking Bradford on the presumption that his throwing shoulder checks out healthy and Mike Shanahan falls in love with the kid during the combine interview process.
- If you say that they SHOULD take a tackle, then f'ing put it in there. I feel like some of these analysts put QB in there b/c it is the popular thing to put down.

- They put down that we should take a QB, and that's fine, but make a good argument. From a football perspective, why should the Redskins take a QB? Don't tell me we are going to take a QB b/c the Redskins are "headline-loving" (even though there's a new administration that's running the team) or that Shanahan could "fall in love" with Bradford.

I expect this will be the year that many of our recent picks either stand out or stand down. Hopefully Mitchell, Kelly, and Thomas all take that long awaited step up, they all showed flashes last year (Kelly briefly). I really didn't get what Zorn and crew was trying to prove, but I don't think that will be a question this year.

I liked Zorn but i felt he put plays in & never really watched film of the opposing team & tryed to exploit their weaknesses, you saw what happened when we hired the Bingo caller(Sherman Lewis) the OF looked so much better. We have the right mindset in charge now.

I always wondered when Bruce Allen came aboard if Jim Zorn took over calling plays again.

I would like to know that too, it was amazing how Sherm Lewis just stopped being in the picture. There was one story where the player wanted to see DS and was told basically our football organization doesn't operate that way anymore, and I wonder if Lewis was told the same thing, a football organization doesn't have a consultant calling plays. It makes sense looking from the outside in, but the world may never know.

I seriously doubt it. A few times they showed shots of Allen up in the booth standing right behind Lewis, and he appeared to still be doing his job up there. Plus you never saw any shots of Zorn on the sideline calling plays. TV would have picked up on that right away if Zorn was calling plays all game long.

Zorn's run in Seahawks came at a time where they had a ton of success running left behind Hutchinson and Jones with Alexander. When he got figured out by the Steelers it turned out that he was basically doing a run left, run left, 7 step drop pattern. I think he was so determined to establish that left side run that he wouldn't try anything else until it was successful.

Mitchell was a 24 year old rookie, just like Rod Smith.

That's all I've got.

Agreed that it seemed that at times we weren't prepared to attack a weakness. Or once we found one we tossed that type of play in the trash because we'd already done it. When Cooley mentioned that I was appalled.
