Abosolutely not! Don't know if anyone could truly compare to Peyton.
My point was simply that Manning lost his first 3 playoff games as a starting QB. Also Manning had more INT's in his first 3 years as a starter than Romo.

And at the time, many prematurely labeled him as a QB that could not win the "big" games. Oddly similar to Romo who is also 1-3 in the playoffs.

The only comparison I am drawing here is saying that being 1-3 in the playoffs does not make one a bust as a QB. It is too early to tell. That is all.
I suppose that's fair. I don't have any record books in front of me, but I'm sure you can also find plenty of other solid QBs who started with a losing record in the playoffs and ultimately didn't amount to anything. Peyton is the exception.

You're right in saying it's too early to tell. Romo could end up winning it all one day. He could also be Aaron Brooks. I'm hoping it's the latter.

To compare his playoff looses to PM is a pretty far stretch and you also have to look at who they played.
Concur, the Eagles were over rated IMO. They were not who the sports moguls made them out to be.

They made such a big deal about the Eagles finishing the season strong on a 6 game win streak heading into that week 17 game at Dallas.

But if you looked at it, the team that Philly beat in those 6 games only 2 teams were above .500 and were struggling late in the season (Denver for example).

Let's face it Romo isn't a bad quarterback. I think he's a douche, but he's a pretty good QB. Here's where I think Romo has failed to adjust. I think it could be totally mental. The speed of the playoffs is a little faster than than regular season games. Tony Romo has yet to make the mental jump from regular season games to the speed of playoff games.

Peyton Manning was getting banged up by the Jets in the first quarter then he made the mental adjustment, along with some scheming on the Colts part, and started torching the Jets. That's the difference between a QB who compiles good stats during the regular season and one that can take his team to the big dance. Next season most talking heads will point to the one playoff win as Romo finally getting over the proverbial hump. I believe --I'm hoping-- it was a one off and he'll continue to crumble like the chump he is under playoff speed football.

manning said about the jets D: he was waiting to get a feel for what they were doing, not trying to force anything. he said if punting the ball is the worst they were doing on offense to start the game thats not a bad thing.

does manning have any flaws? thats a serious question.

Well, you could argue his lack of mobility is a flaw, but his line is phenomenal and he gets the ball out so quickly it doesn't matter.

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams

I can't believe I'm posting this, but I was all ready to write a post showing how much more improved the Colts were in the first 4 years after Manning compared to the Cowboys since Romo, and as it turns out, the Cowboys have won more additional games in Romo's first 4 years than the Colts did when Manning arrived.

That said, after Manning's 4th year, I don't think they've had a single season where they won less than 10 games, I mean the guy is an unbelievably consistent force on that team, considering the way RB's have come and gone and even a coaching change, and they're still dismantling teams week in and out.

But to sandtrapjack's credit, Romo has made a significant numerical difference to the Cowboys' record, or at least it's happened on his watch.

The Eagles were a 9-7 team from the get-go. I think they overacheived just a bit to go 10-6. The NFC East was definitely there for the taking this season, which made the Redskins 0-6 division record and 4-12 overall all the more disappointing.

They could have done that in either of the last two seasons and it wouldn't matted all that much, but a 5-1 division record this year would have made all the difference for any team.

He's actually gotten more athletic as he's gotten into his thirties.

Peyton Manning has his own developmental curve. We are all just spectators.

In my lifetime, I'm not sure I've seen a QB with a better command of the football field. Every snap of that Jets game:

-- he's barking out things at the line, changing plays
-- the clock's ticking down, you think they're going to get a delay of game, but he gets the ball off
-- then the pressure comes and you think he's going to get sacked, but he steps into the pocket and delivers the ball,
-- and the vast majority of the time it's a laser right to the receiver to move the chains.

How many other teams fail often in any one of those steps leading to the completed pass? This guy makes it look easy, EVERY DOWN.

Must be some serious pressure knowing that everyone expects you to do that as a baseline. The spectacular bombs are just the icing on the cake.
