Re: Bradford/Clausen now split among Mock Drafts
If Shanny drafts a QB, Brennan is toast. Brennan should have been the one cut not Daniel last season. If we land Lefevour, Stull, Sheehan, or even Kafka, Colt is going to have a very hard time making the roster.

Re: Bradford/Clausen now split among Mock Drafts
Well that all depends. I would hope Collins is cut. Out with the old in with the new. If nothing else Colt would still be the #3 QB. My preference would be to draft the QB Shanahan wants, keep JC if for nothing else as our vet QB on the roster, keep Colt and bring in an undrafted QB that both Shanahans think they could work with. If Colt can't build up more bulk or muscle mass and gets injured again then it's time to cut him.

That one article sort of points out that a vet QB is going to be brought in to back JC up, but Shanny might still draft someone. The article also questions if Shanny thinks Colt has any utility. I personally agree. We got the guy in the 6th round. This guy set NCAA passing records against lame competition most of his career at Hawaii and when they played the big game in the Superdome the Bulldogs crushed him. I know all this is history, but if the rest of the NFL passed on the guy, they must have known something and we just took a big gamble on the guy. Lefevour would definitely beat him out in a QB contest, and I think most of the others I previously listed also would beat Colt. |

I like Colt, but he isn't our new QB. Daniel was more fluid, mor relaxed, and had better stats. Only thing that hurt Chase was his size. The main thing with these College QB superstars is that they are from teams highly stacked with talent and/or face inferior competition. Tebow had a Florida roster that could maybe beat the crappier NFL teams out there. Florida was head and shoulders better than most of their competition during Tebow's reign(especially in '09, a weak year for the SEC). Colt played on a rather talented Hawaii squad, with a pass happy offense and weak competition. Sort of hard for Colt not to set NCAA records with that scenario. We need a QB that made things happen with a team that maybe was average to above average talent and was exposed to some degree of parity or enhanced competition. THat is why I am guys like Lefevour, Pike, Stull, Kafka, even Canfield. These guys had good stats and faced decent competition just about every Sat as they aren't from NCAA powerhouses. |

Re: Bradford/Clausen now split among Mock Drafts
Depends on who that other veteran is and how they play in camp. I just haven't seen anything to suggest that Shanahan would be eager at this point to get rid of Brenan.
