Re: Giants Release Pierce

Pierce wants to stay in the division and we need LB's...sounds good to me. Sign him to the vet min. with no signing bonus. If we pick up someone in the draft or FA who performs better, cut him.

No thanks. He's 32, had a pretty serious neck injury last year and seems to have lost a step. This would be a step back. We need an infusion of youth on both sides of the ball.

Not that I think we should pick him up, but how is picking up Pierce for the vet min any different than picking up some camp scrub?

I'd wager that AP is better than HB Blades even with the health issues.

As far as the vet. min, I'm not sure he'd get a big offer even in an uncapped year due to his questionable health issues. He said he wants to stay in the division (like B.Mitch) so why not give him a shot. If it works out, great. If it doesn't then we'll do what we gotta do.

We need to get younger, especially at LB and I don't think signing AP would hinder that draft strategy.
