Re: Safety Options - Sharper, Rolle (maybe)

Rolle would be ideal if he's cut.

Let's throw money at good players like this (Dansby, Peppers, Rolle) since we're going to have the uncapped year. Who care's? It's Danny's money. And I know our defense isn't the problem but these guys are good if not great players and since when is it a crime to improve your team? This would allow us to use our draft picks (which we have too few) to sure up our offense.

But like I asked before. What is the rule on untendered and released RFA? Do they hit waivers or become part of the free agent pool. I'd be tempted to get him, though Los comments about Landry make me wonder if we'd be better off putting Laron back at FS and look for a low cost backup at FS (Ryan Clark anyone?)

As I understand it and I could be wrong (hoge and wingo were talking about it on NFL live last night but I was falling asleep), if a restricted FA is released then they're a FA. AZ could try to resign him to a long-term contract but I'd bet he'd want to hit the open market.

Yup. To keep a RFA, you tender him. If you cut him, he becomes a UFA.

Awesome, all I needed to know. Personally I'm hoping that the Packers add Daryn Colledge to the list of UFA's.

I really don't know how the waiver works in the offseason, I do know that teams would have to pick up the player's original contract...so maybe teams will let Rolle pass so they can get a shot at him as a UFA?

Clark could be an option, but Schefter thinks the Steelers are going to find a way to keep him (transition tag maybe?).
