Did you see him play at UNC? His playing weight was around 275 and if you got in his way he would posterize you. Basketball was a hobby for him and he was a dominant force in the ACC.

Billy Packer said he was arguably the best two way athlete in the history of the NCAA.

Even so in the NBA he likely would have been a role player with his height, in the NFL he's a star making around 10 times more then he would have playing basketball. I wouldn't say that he was a dominant force in the ACC. He was good averaging 7 ppg and 4 rebounds in his last season playing basketball. Now JJ Reddick, as much as I hated playing against him, was a dominant force in the ACC.

Though it is worth pointing out that he's named after Juilus Erving and Walt Fraizer, hence his name Juilus Fraizer Peppers.

His last game in the tournament he put up 21 and 10. He was so raw because it truly was a hobby.

I think if he focused on basketball he could have been a star.

Now on the making 10 times more in the NFL. Have you seen NBA contracts? There are role players making 10 million a year. There are guys who barely leave the bench who make 5. His longevity is impressive but typically an NBA career is much longer than an NFL career.

You're talking about the guys like Tayshaun Prince, who have a solid overall game and are usually in their teams starting 5. Peppers rookie contract was 7 years with a minimum value of $50 million dollars. He likely earned the $62 million max with that contract not to mention the 18 million he made last year with the franchise tag and pro bowl bonus.

Unless he became a starter then Peppers would most likely have been making one or two million a year and been out of the league within 5 years. Sure maybe he could have gotten up to $5 million but for how long? Also keep in mind that you're talking about a league that doesn't take very kindly to power forwards uner 6'8. Elton Brand is the only guy I can think of that made it as a short power forward. In the NBA height is extremely important.

I'd loved to have seen him have a full career. And for Peppers to play and start at UNC, a top-5 collegiate basketball program in the USA is special and he has the talent and ability to make the transition to cover as a LB.
Can't argue with that. I mean heck it's hard enough to play football and make the basketball team in high school let alone doing it at a school like UNC.

JJ Redick is a cry baby and players from Duke (short of Grant Hill) are overrated. I loved that interview when he actually cried about the MD fans harassing his sister. somehow they got her phone number.
