yes he was just like Carter was allowed to walk from San Fran because he didn't fit any of the variations of the 3-4 which Mike Nolan ran.

And Leigh Bodden is shaky to sign IMO, he was always being picked on I feel whenever I saw NE play last year.

Leigh Bodden had a good season in my opinion, I saw the opposite of you. Here are his stats for 2009:

I would say from looking at the stats that they are comparable with the edge going to Bodden on an interception for a TD and lots of passes defended.

Not true really. He probably is better with his hand on the ground, but he still has impressive numbers from the first half of last year, and proved he could make it as a 3-4 OLB.

I think the Packers are letting him hit the market because 1) he's coming off a major knee injury, and 2) they were just fine defensively without him last year.

That's a combination that makes it tough for the Packers to justify a long term deal there. That is a big red flag on him, but if he's healthy, he's got 2-3 more years as a top end pass rusher in this league.

He's a good alternative to Peppers in a 3-4 defense, but unlike Peppers, HE himself might want to avoid signing with a team to play the 3-4.
