The idea with getting just anyone to play quarterback isn't about actually being good at the position. You can play it for all I care. It's to basically ignore a position that needs to take a backseat while we address real issues.

I don't really care who lines up under center for us next year. Campbell would be the easiest, and probably best, choice, but I don't really care if it's him, Colt, Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, Pennington, Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger, Jim Sorgi, or Brad Iciek. If we get a good deal for Campbell (second or better) we should make that move, and still draft Okung with the first pick. It's time to not spin the wheels in the mud any longer.
Very true. We take Bradford or Clausen in the first then that would be the third first round pick in the last decade that should have been spent on a lineman.

Vinny was very anti-offensive lineman in the draft. Maybe he brainwashed these fans that don't want to take a first or second round lineman. Next thing you know they'd want to draft three receivers in the 2nd round.

Yeah, cause we all know teams don't go anywhere unless they have 4 first round OL on the line.

Apparently you've never heard of the 2009 Jets.

Not 4 first round OLs, but they had two first round OL they drafted (Mangold, Ferguson) and Faneca (picked up in free agency).

Did I miss something? I thought they picked up Sanchez in 09? I don't doubt the 2 first rounders but that means they had like 3 first round picks. I don't remember them having that.

Yes, but they build their lines in their previous two years and only picked up the rookie QB after they had a solid line, and that seemed to work well. So quiet down.

So your banking on the fact that we can pick up OL, OL, OL. Make sure we suck enough in order to place high enough in the 2011 draft in order to pick up a Franchise QB like the Jets did. OK. I got it.

I on the other hand have a bit more faith in Shanahan and doubt we end up anywhere close to the 4-12 season and no where near the top 5 in next years draft. Which means we will have a mediocre QB whether we keep JC or not, Colt, and some aged Vet you guys are wanting. Yeah good idea.

Basically here's the problem, there are a lot more talented OL on the board vs. QB's. There are a lot more OL that could easily be starting almost half way through the draft list of OL. But only about 3 QB's would be worth starting either this year or next. Most would have to be heavily coached up with the intention of being utilized in about 3-4 years. JC will be gone next year. I think he's tired of the BS, plus the owner is tired of the mediocre performance. So we can draft a top notch QB this year, pick up a bunch of OL, and throw the QB on the field next year after he's had a year of learning or we can forgo the position to pick up OL this year when they have the deepest OL draft and pick up a mediocre QB next year since we will be farther down the board and throw him to the fire under an awsome OL. My opinion I'd rather have the QB learning for a year and ready to step in next year when JC leaves, thats if he doesn't get picked up by someone this year.

Calm down Vinny. I'm not even bothering reading your stuff anymore, so save it.

The Jets had 2 first rounders in 2006. They spent the 4th pick on Ferguson and the 29th pick on Mangold.

Cutler was drafted 11th that year, but he played for Vanderbilt, which obviously isn't known for its football program, even though he did have a nice individual accolades of being SEC Offensive Player of the Year and being a part of the all-SEC team.
