I somewhat agree that having another veteran RB wouldn't hurt but, why not keep Betts or Cartwright? Parker is no spring chicken and was hurt last year too. Too many examples of rookie RBs having success in this league (and in Shanahan's offense) goes against the need to sign Parker or LT for that matter. We're stuck with Portis only because of his contract.

Because Betts will be 31 when the season starts, tore two ligaments in his knee (an ACL tear alone is a two year injury), was injury prone before that and he isn't cheap for a backup.

Rock has proven that he just isn't an effective runningback and he really has been whining the last year which isn't what you want out of a "team leader" and 3rd string back.
