Now, there's still plenty of time for further roster upgrades. free agency isnt over and there's still the draft. However, we've only got 5 draft picks and only 2 of those picks could legitimately be expected to make the 45-man gameday roster.

i generally agree with all the cuts that were made - but why cut a guy if you're not going to replace him with someone better? i understand the free agent class is/was somewhat weak, but why didn't we lock up pashos, for example? we need help at both tackle positions and he would have been a huge upgrade over heyer. i am glad we didnt go out and try to sign everyone, like we have done in years past, but i feel that perhaps shanahan and allen are being a bit too frugal. they keep saying they have a plan, but i dont see how any possible plan will result in this team having more talent on the roster in 2010 than it did in 2009 if we end up filling most of the holes with 4th-tier free agents and undrafted rookies... which is what it looks like we'll be doing now.

on a side note, someone on ES claims DCsportsradio sent a twitter saying another team offered us a trade for a player and that, if it happens, it will happen today. someone there suggested Landry for Gathier would be a good trade, and I agree. we've got too many good strong safeties on the roster and we need a left tackle.
Honestly a lot of it simply comes down to dumping older players with high salaries.

As far as the talent level goes I would argue we can find younger/cheaper players that can do as good or a better job. A lot of these "holes" are going to be filled from within as well from guys stepping up.

we all know that profootballtalk.com gets all its breaking redskins news from extremeskins.com - the best source of redskins news and facts on the entire planet. generally speaking, i have found that the only place that has more accurate information than extremeskins.com is wikipedia.

from Gaither's wikipedia page:

Trade rumors began swirling on March 7, 2010. The Ravens reportedly might look to trade Gaither in exchange for a first or second round draft choice and then move 2009 first round draft choice Michael Oher to the blindside. The Redskins reportedly offered their second round draft choice in exchange for the 23 year old tackle. [5]

Did you happen to see them talking trash on us over there?

I'm surprised that a board as big and important as ES would even care about what our little ol' site has to say.

time to hand over that nickname matty haha

TK's outburst was pathetic at best; honestly if I were a reporter without many sources why wouldn't you go to a place that has a lot of the info collected together? It's only logical.

But to act like it's all media on there that's slowing stuff down? haha.. beginning of free agency there are just a lot of fans that don't post/have accounts checking it out.

the next guy did back up what I was saying though
