Plus, correct me if I a wrong, but didnt he have a pretty serious injury that kept him out his entire rookie season? I mean, a history of knee injuries to an overworked 30 yo bitchy RB doesnt really strike me like he is our back of the future, but why waste $$ and time on this asshole? Sorry, this move officially effin sucks. There are much better/younger options, especially if ppl think shanny can turn any RB he touches to gold. This might be his biggest project/challenge to date.

Did you read the article, it's 3 years for $3.5 million. Only if he reaches certain incentives does it grow to $12 million.

And if he reaches the incentives, you'll be happy. It's a very low-cost deal.

I really love how people make ridiculous claims like "there are a lot of better younger options than Larry Johnson" (like this guy is a nobody in the league) but can't name a single one.

It is easy to second guess every move and never offer a solution.

And apparently he went out and ran for two consecutive 1700+ yard seasons. Highly doubtful his rookie injury has affected him since then.

Who are these better younger options? And who said he needs to be our back of the future? He could very well have been signed just to be a backup. Its only March...other RB's will be drafted or signed.

I'm in the minority, but I like the signing. I think he tallies more yards than CP next season. I think them splitting the work load is important. Just like our jobs, it's important to find a company you fit in with and go from there. Hopefully LJ fits in here. I need to look at his career carries, but I think it's significantly less than CP.

I listed their respective career numbers on pg. 4. The columns are slightly off, but Portis and LT are waaaay ahead of LJ in every category. Games, number of carries, yards, TDs, you name it.

This was a good signing if you ask me.

I am not saying he is overpriced, I am saying, why waste money on the guy in the first place, even if its a C Note. The guy is old, and an unstable personality to say the least.

PEOPLE I'm not 100% behind this BUT we only have 5 picks in this draft unless we pick up more & we have so many holes to fill. Maybe this won't be the year to draft a RB WE ONLY HAVE 5 PICKS you do the math.

Agree with you we dont have enough picks this year to waste it on a lower round RB. I think with Portis, LJ and Alridge we can get the job done. Who knows maybe we sign a undrafted rookie free agent who could be a gem. We have a more pressing need to adress the O-Line in the draft. The only RB worth taking in the 1st round is CJ Spiller and we cannot afford to pick him with our 1st rd pick.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

Opinion is all over the place on this signing. Portis and LJ may be a little past thier prime but teams generally keep 4 or 5 RB's so there is still time and roster space to add 1 or 2 more young RB's to the mix.

I am okay with the signing actually. I think he may have a little more left in the tank then most of the other veteran RB options. He did a lot of riding the pine in his early years.

Reading is a Good Thing People!

Ok, for the whiners and complainers out there, we got LJ basically for nothing. The base salary for the 3 years is 3.5 million, I think the guaranteed money is 1.5 mil? The 12 million comes from incentives and whatnot

I'm starting to believe that BA knows how to work out contracts. While I wanted Willie Parker, being only a season removed from being the #1 guy on a good team, I'm sure WP would have wanted a heck of a lot more money. LT left SD because of money, and that's what he's looking for. Also, I'm sure these two guys may be looking to be the feature back wherever they land.

As far as LJ's off the field issues, well this is where I trust Shanahan as a disciplinarian. (And Lord knows we need one on this team). But I also see this as LJ's 2nd chance to show that he's not done or that his off the field issues are a thing of the past.

I am glad we are heading towards a multiple RB system. A lot of the successful teams are doing this, and I'm glad we seem to be headed that way. And for the young/hungry player fans out there, I'm sure we're drafting a RB in April. Hopefully we'll land our next Shonn Green or Tashard Choice.

Sorry friend, there are plenty of us with a healthy amount of football knowledge who will always object to the signing of a man accused of multiple violent attacks on women. Further, your use of the term "bitch slap" when talking about Larry Johnson is just plain childish and ignorant.

I actually respect the football merit of the signing, and had this been any other player, I would support the move and the contract structure. However, in my mind there is no "gray area" when it comes to violence against women, and LJ has a long and well documented history of assaults on women, including brandishing a firearm and slapping one, shoving another to the ground, choking a third, and spitting on then threatening to kill yet another. He has been arrested or detained for four separate incidents since 2003...that's 7 years he's had to clean up his act and failed to do so.

The crowning jewel, of course, was getting jettisoned from his team mid-season last year for two separate incidents of running his mouth about the coaching staff and hurling racial and homophobic slurs at reporters.

So, again, I'll repeat, any other Joe with his numbers and I like this move, but LJ will never get a cheer or a clap out of me, and I will consider it a blight on the franchise so long as he is in the Redskins employ.
