Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
he could play at a high level for several more years. so you trade a top qb in the prime of his career cause his back up isn't happy?? i've gotta see it happen before i believe it. i don't think mcnabb is going anywhere.

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Ok if it's true it would be great fo McNabb way under appriciated in philly, great for Stl.. just got a proved QB and now owuld use that #1 pick in Suh (I hope) and great for Philly they get almost a 1st round pick for a guy on his last year in the contract and move on to the future with Kobb....
This trade just sucks for the rest of the NFC EAST |

If true this means that the Rams aren't 1000% sold on Bradford's shoulder and they are definitely trying to make a playoff run sooner rather than later.
And the possibility of Bradford falling to us just increased, but it still doesn't mean we'll draft him. |

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I tend to agree but wonder how soon the Rams think the playoffs are feasible, and whether McNabb will still be the right guy to be the starting QB when they have the right playoff pieces together. At first glance, I'm not seeing the advantage for them. No doubt, they'd be getting a talented QB, but the Rams are a team that I'd peg as one that, if it was inclined to trade a second round pick, would want in exchange an established player that is a little younger than McNabb.

I think the Rams not having the owner firmly in place has as much to do with not wanting to invest in a QB at 1st overall as concerns about his shoulder

Financially, is there much of a difference between drafting a QB over a DT? Just wondering.

Quote:
All indications by the way, just addressing the general public, are that Bradford's shoulder is fine. His shoulder isn't bad (not as bad as Drew Brees') it's more so that he came back too soon from his injury. People act like he had his arm amputated or something

Maybe Spago figures that he better start to win now and prove to new ownership he's the guy for the Rams future. Would have a better chance with a vet QB.

I don't like this for 2 reasons:
1) I always prefer players to stay w/their teams, even teams I hate 2) I would rather let the Rams take Bradford & we take a qb in the 2nd or later, or next year if we must. |

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
On Tuesday, there was an interesting rumor that started with a tweet from the Houston Chronicle's John McClain; namely, that the Philadelphia Eagles were committed to Kevin Kolb, and if the right offer came in for Donovan McNabb, they were ready to go with Kolb as their main man.
Turns out, those offers might be coming in. Ashley Fox of the Philadelphia Inquirer quoted Eagles coach Andy Reid as saying that "People are entertaining us with offers. Nothing's been done, but we're evaluating all of them." Not a confirmation that anything is happening soon, but from what we've gleaned elsewhere over the past few months, something seems to be percolating. ESPN's NFC East blogger, Matt Mosley, sat down with Reid at the NFC coaches' breakfast on Wednesday and came away with an interesting take based on the conversation (seen below), and he speculates that "the Rams, Bills, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals and Vikings could all be in play." No surprises there. Update: There's been a whirlwind of rumors -- on both Philly and New York sports radio stations -- that a deal is being hashed out involving McNabb going to the Rams for the No. 33 overall pick. It's a rumor we heard a few weeks ago, and apparently it's back "on the table" per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. McNabb has a de facto no-trade clause, in that if he doesn't want to go to a certain team, he won't negotiate a new deal with them. His current pact expires after the upcoming season, and it's not believed he wants to end his career for one of the league's bottom-feeding teams. However, according to McLane, McNabb is willing to go to the Rams if they offer him a contract extension. Matt Mosley Kolb Time could be coming soon, Philly fans "After spending about 20 minutes with Reid on Wednesday, I'm convinced there's a pretty good chance Kolb is his starting quarterback in 2010." This was on the "Rumors" of ESPN

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Not necessarily bad for us. There are no guarantees with Kolb.. He may suck and make this look really dumb for the Eagles. I'm of the opinion that you keep a franchise QB no matter what it takes - because they rarely get traded (although interestingly Favre, Brees, Shaub - have been traded over the recent years)... BUT if Kolb steps in and does well - the Eagles look super-smart.
I can't wait to see what Bradford does on March 29th at his Pro Day. I guess he's back to us now. Funny -- when the Rams looked like they were drafting him, I wanted him. Now that he may slip to us, I'm concerned about his shoulder again... The grass is always greener... |

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
The Lions and Tampa Bay may be in the position to trade down now...and Tampa Bay would be the likely candidate to trade down now that getting McCoy or Suh may not be possible (unless Detroit goes with Okung).
If Bradford falls to us, I think Bruce Allen would be in position to trade down with the Bills, the Browns, Jacksonville, Seattle, or maybe even Oakland. My dream would be for BA to rob the Bills of their first and couple of other picks for our #4.
