Not sure if OV's publicity is up to par just yet. After all, it's Crosby who gets all the marketing deals.

Incorrect. There is no no-trade clause.

Perhaps I'm wrong but McNabb had a "no trade" clause with the Eagles. We traded with the Eagles, because McNabb allowed the trade, which means we have essentally picked up the "no trade" contract McNabb had. Unless he signes an extension or a new deal.

Correct?

I thought that they said he actually didn't have that clause? And if so it probably wouldn't be transferable, but it'd depend on the writing

All I know is I just heard Schefter say that McNabb doesn't have a "no trade" option with the Redskins.

He definitly had one with the Eagles. He basically said he'd work with them if they traded him to a team he liked. If they wouldn't he would invoke the clause.

I would presume that when he agreed to the trade his contract came with him until we either extend him or resign him. He has like one year left I think.

I just don't see how by this trade taking place a part of McNabbs contract is now null and void? We basically picked up his whole contract until he has a redo on his contract.

Wilbon's thought on the trade...

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

I like it. McNabb instantly replaces Portis as the alpha-dog on offense. Now all the players take cues from McNabb both in practice and during games. On-field leadership is something we've been lacking for a long time, and as long as McNabb protects the ball, we're good to go. Portis has been the emotional focal point of the offense to the team's detriment, and JC just didn't step up in time (or he was focused on more pressing matters like learning new offensive schemes and staying alive in the backfield).

I'll say it again: Urban Meyer got in Chris Leak's face about being more of a leader, and during their second season together, they won a National Championship. Tebow was not the most skilled QB in Florida history (might have been Grossman, interestingly), but he was a hell of a leader, and he got another championship because of it. But let's bring it back to the NFL level:

The best teams in the NFL right now not only have good quarterbacks, but their quarterbacks are the undisputed leaders of their offenses. Stats almost don't matter in this case (but lucky for us, McNabb is a good statistical QB, too).

Interesting...

Campbell wasn't told of trade | Washington Examiner

Is this for real?

Watching the SportsCenter that just started on ESPN. They're showing McNabb's face with B&G and our logo as the backdrop. Pretty surreal.
