Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Yup. Cerrato trades high draft pick(s) for a big name vet past his prime, and he's the biggest moron in the NFL!!
Allen/Shanny trade a high draft pick for a big name vet past his prime and people rejoice?? I'll never understand our fan base. Sure, this is for a QB (something we've needed forever), but the fact remains we have many other pressing needs, and now only 4 draft picks to address them. The Patriots have three times that many by the way. The best teams in this league build through the draft. I've been "wait and see" on Allen/Shanny since day one. That fact remains. Big time.

There was more ambiguity in the Jason Taylor trade, like maybe we were going to use him creatively in a way that the Dolphins hadn't (sorry to remind you). Here, we have to wonder what the heck Shanahan knows about extending McNabb's career that Andy Reid didn't. Because if this is a battle of understanding quarterbacks, I'm jumping ship on Shanahan. He's going to get crushed if it's just his assessment of a player against Reid's. There's got to be more here, I would think.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Just got the news, your statement is what I keep thinking about.
There has been no contract discussion, so it's not outside the realm of possibility McNabb is traded on draft day. What do we know: 1) We're not "boxed in" on a starting LT or QB at #4. 2) The FO does not have enough faith in Campbell to go into the season with him as the starting option at QB. 3) We will likely be making more trades either right before or during the draft for picks in the 2-3 round range. Let's say we stand pat, McNabb is a major upgrade over Campbell (if healthy) for the next two seasons. We will come away with one of the top 2 LTs or more picks in the first round, or both. What did we lose, our second rounder....who many here were saying to use on Colt McCoy. McNabb is light years ahead of what McCoy will ever be.

One way or another, we've got to acquire more draft picks.

I gotta say, I do firmly believe we'll either find a trade partner for our 4th pick and acquire multiple lower picks and/or move at least one or two players for picks. I don't care who our QB is, if the line doesn't drastically improve, nothing else will matter.

Are you predicting we'll win the 2004 NFC East, too?
