Re: Can Colt Brennan beat Rex Grossman for number 2 spot

well it would be a shame if Colt didn't get a chance. Especially the way he came out preseason. Thanks to FO wasting there time with JC we may never know what CB could have been for us.

2nd string is going to be very important because the chances of DM going 16 games is Very Doubtful. So we are still looking at a potential QB crisis at some point.

Everyones starting to get excited about DM but were not out of the woods yet. They better get this right.

Grossman knows the K. Shanahan offense and has been a SB QB. Far better back-up situation than we've had in say....5 years.

And Brennan had his shot, he got outplayed by Chase Daniel last pre-season.

I agree with you all the way up until you said Colt got out played. I too am a Chase fan and liked what he offered. I wish we kept him. I too think he would have surpassed Colt but last preseason I felt Colt did better then Collins also. He just can't stay healthy. Because of that issue I'm about ready to pass on him as well.

Better backup situation in 5 yrs? Collins was phenomenal in 07 and honestly, he probably should have been the starter for both years under Saunders.

Im not sayin Collins is great but he did come in and play well enough to get this team to the playoffs.

LOL...knowing is one thing, actually throwing the ball where it needs to go is another. Grossman should be legally barred from playing professional football. He sucks more donkies than Cutler. Remember kids, Grossman is a University of Florida and Steve Spurrier product.

1.) Look who his coach was.
2.) Center is a third-cousin of Casey Rabach.

Nevermind...

Grossman by no means is a world-beater, and I would certainly rather have Cutler than Grossman. However, Grossman is an improvement over Collins. In the 2000s Collins started 3 games (when JC was hurt in 2007), he played solid....until Seattle got his number and made him look like a joke. Grossman has started 31 games. Collins' career completion % is 56%, Grossman's is 54%.
