Because they can't per the collective bargaining agreement.

Then coaches need to stop making such big f'ing deal out of it. Basically in any situation it becomes an "unwritten" rule then, and it is annoying and distracting (by both sides, players and coaches).

I can see Shanny blowing out Fatal Bert because of his attitude and selfishness but at the same time, after paying him all of that "KASHE", wouldn't you rather see Shanny proceed in some other direction. To get some of his "KASHE" back?

Dude, please stop with the Fatal Bert, it's moronic.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Does it even qualify as a nickname if it doesn't make any sense?

I agree with you to a certain extent, but the culture at Redskins Park was in need of a serious overhaul. I'm not for "sending a message" every offseason, but I do think Shanahan has every right to lay down the law. The culture of player entitlement and me-first has got to go if we ever hope to be real contenders.

The culture that really needs to be changed is the culture of change. The more things change the more they stay the same.
